big fuss on jan 2 , new helmet law aplied , take a look outside now , was walking from robinsons to mcd counted only 13 drivers with helmets haahaha... even the cops dont wear them. what a joke.
Saturday is pay day (Fun)! Sunday is hangover day, Monday is a bad mood day, Tuesday is a day to think, Wednesday is a low budget day, Friday is time to work then start all over again.and try to remember Thursday.
So what's new? Same as the plastic bag law, tricycle each side of town law and the smoking law, it will never happen ever! The only law here is enforce for two weeks and then forget it. What happened to the new lto guy going to enforce the jeepneys, truck and buses for safety and roadworthy concerns,it ain't going to happen like everything else! Correct a big joke all the laws here except when it comes to foreigners as they got money and can pay unlike the locals :(
You guys are so correct, now i see they are going to introduce a no littering law , WHAT A JOKE, I dont care if someone busts their head on a moterbike or dies from smoking but i object to drivers not stopping on street crossing , blocking the side walk with fruit stalls n moterbikes .But if we dont like it we can go back to were we came from. cheers never stand between a dog and a tree
I was at LTO, talking with a guy that got a ticket for not wearing a helmet... as were talking were watching and 90% of the people driving right out in front of the LTO had no helmets... and, there was a truck with like 4 cops sitting in it right there watching it all...lol today im walking around and it looks like it did a few months ago... hardly anyone's wearing helmets.
People without helmets are getting concerned about the checkpoints. My housekeeper (her husband an auto mechanic) asked me where I got mine, and for what price. At Tops and Bottoms, for 2 thousand something. But that was a few years ago, I'm no fool. She said, "Oh, expensive. Cheap ones at Unitop, but the IOC (laugh) is phony."
If you head is worth more than $19.95 wear a bell helmet There are not many advertising slogans I remember after 50 years, in fact there are not many things I remember after 40 years, but in the late 1960s Bell Helmets had an ad aiming on their cheap competitors which I will always remember: "If your head is only worth $19.95 then buy or our competitors helmet, if you value your head more than that then buy ours" This is a paraphrase as a few times I did not wear my helmet and took spills. Bell Helmets were selling for $49.95 at the time. Today I still wear a full face Bell helmet I used in auto racing. My head is worth it. Obviously most people here feel their head is worth zero, as they give it zero protection. By the way the outside shell is only good for holding the foam in place on the inside of the helmet. If something is going to pierce the shell, it will continue on and pierce your brain too. The foam is what protects your head from the concussions.
It seems like those people that started rideing without helmets find it un comfortable and a ammoyance to wear a helmet.. I started riding off road and motocross so we always wore helmets and all the other protective gear. so its just feels natural for me. when I go riding I got'a have a helmet, eye protection, boots, gloves, knee/shin guards, good pants and long sleeves. (around town I wear shoes) One thing I see here in Duma. is so many people riding with flip flops.. wow, they must never put down their foot. All it would take is one minor fall and they would realize how hot and uncomfortable it is to hit that road and then have to deal with the road rash ...lol the only thing I don't like is when I get off the bike and have to carry it around... I wish Rob had a place to check helmets.. Look at all those bikes parked outside,.. then look at how many people you see carrying helmets in the mall... not many.
Oh yea,.. in AZ MT and CA when I lived there was no law requiring us to wear a helmet. but we did cus we wanted to. I think its a good thing to wear a helmet.. but it should be the riders choice. maybe here the law is political.. I don't think they really care about peoples safety, or making money from writing tickets.
