Has anyone undergone a hiatal hernia operation ether here or Cebu? What was the cost and how long a stay in the hospital? Were you satisfied with the results and who was the doctor? Thanks
Hey Moveingon, Either nobody has had the op or they never recovered! :o Hope you have had yours by now and you are fit and well. Take care......JB
I had a double (both sides) lateral hernia repaired last year by laparoscopic surgery. A hiatial hernia is only different because of its' location, however, a hernia is a hernia. But I went back to UK to have it done. I would not entertain invasive surgery locally unless it was a life or death situation and I was not conscious. Open surgery leaves open wounds, and, given the constant arrival and departure of unsterile people in the wards here, even in private rooms, is an invitation to cross infection, arguably the greatest cause of post operative fatalities here. If you must have it done in the Philippines, then I strongly suggest using St. Lukes in Makati, where standards are considerably higher than in the provinces. It's pricey, yes, but if you can afford it then spend it to improve your quality of life. There is no point in being the richest man in the cemetery.
If you can fly, go to Thailand...cheaper, better facilities, better doctors. Less chance of being scammed and overcharged.
