First you take either a bus from the Ceres Lines Bus terminal or hire a private vehicle to Malatapay. When you get to the market in Malatapay, which is only open on Wednesdays. you gotta walk or drive all the way down to the end. Down there is a little coast guard outpost and boatsmen ready to take you out to Apo Island. I believe they charge P2500 rent for the day for one of the boats with a capacity up to 10 or 12 pax. or P350 per person just to drop you off on Apo Island.
Hi The Dane, another newbie here, great site, I've been perusing for days. It helped us decide to come an visit. Arriving in Dumaguete with hubbie and 3 kids in tow. Are the rates you give here for the bancas to Apo Island still good? Also, what is the approximate cost for a car from Dumaguete to Malatapay beach? Where can we find cars for hire? Last question - do you think we can get from Cebu to Apo Island in one day? Arrive into Cebu at11:30 and plan to bus it do Duma.
Im driving from bacolod on private car, is there a safe place to park/ leave the car at coastguard outpost at malatapay? say 4 days...
Thats sad.. I have to stick to my original plan then.. book on a resort then arrange a boat trip to apo to experience snorkeling.
might be an idea to get to the Island with one of Mike's tours, we did the crossing from the beach but seas can be rough. Instead of in the banka they have some kind of cargo hold and they put you on top and you will arive completly soaked (and sunburned if you did not put on some good lotion). I was with 2 kids and my gf and the two kids 3 and 11 arrived sort of in shock on Apo (me being the only one who can swim and no livejackets etc). Market in Malatapay is cool there is some tax on Apo as well so don't be surprised
hi all! is there any public transpo from malatapay to Apo? i dont want to rent bancas. i have a limited budget.
