For all those who like (or liked) traditional Jazz, sad to report that Kenny Ball died yesterday, aged 82, in hospital in Essex UK. He had been in and out of hospital for a while, but was getting ready to do a tour of Germany at the time of his death. Great musician, great on stage performer and a very talented trumpet player. Hi Roger, I had the pleasure of meeting the man many years ago. I was a mere boy of 18yrs. He was a real gentleman who even though he and his band were enjoying a chart topping success, took the time to speak to you and even offered to buy me a drink!. I was working for a musical paper at the time.......may he rest in peace. JB
