Tried out the Korean restaurant in Tanjay tonight, called Yumi’s. We had the samgyupsal and Korean egg roll (like an omelet). The samgyupsal also came with a salad and a bowl of kimchi chigae for each of us plus some sides. Everything was pretty decent and nice to have another dining opportunity in Tanjay.

A small menu but will try out some other dishes in the days/weeks going forward. They’ve been open for about 5 weeks from what we were told. Good/attentive wait staff as well.

You couldn't pay me to eat in a Korean restaurant after what I experienced in one in Dumaguete a couple of years ago. Ordered chicken breast. Mine was very very slow coming while everyone else had their food already. Mine finally arrived. The chicken " breast" was " brown" inside. Never in my life have I ever seen "brown chicken breast meat". Draw you own conclusion.

I think the street is Legaspi; it is located where there was a little bingo hall previously. Hope that helps.

I have 15 years on and off living/working in Korea and Korean food is my favorite. I've eaten at both (that I know of) Korean restaurants in Dumaguete; had some good meals had some not so good. Also eaten at Korean restaurants in Cebu, Manila and Bohol some better than others.

Like I said, another dining option in Tanjay. Seems to be doing a fair amount of business as well.

Maybe the chicken breast was infused with some sort of sauce that was darker in color?

And how does one bad experience at a Korean place make you want to never try another one?

When I was assigned to the 1/10 Armored Cavalry near the DMZ in South Korea we had a Korean hooch man who would do our laundry, make up our bunks, shine our boots etc.

Every morning when he came to work he brought the most horrible odor.

What ever he was eating that morning or the night before I don’t want to know...

I will pass on the Korean food...besides I am on a diet.

Why go that far when there are good Korean restos in Dumaguete? Have you checked out Soban? A lot of foreigners go there to eat. There is another one near Silliman U., somewhere near Openas Restaurant, that road going to Silliman from the port area. To the right is a Korean resto. Soban is situated across the Provincial Hospital right behind the pharmacies there is a road going in. They cook your food right in front of you. Delicious food there with lots of freebies before your main order comes.

The O.P. comes from Tanjay, hence why he was informing those travelling through or living nearby. The restaurant you were thinking of, near Silliman is Fish 153 which I think is great too. It is also a Korean grocer see https://www.facebook.com/fish153dgt. I agree Soban is tasty and good service too.
