UyMatiao has a selection. Expect to pay P15,000 or so for the same MTD piece of crap you could buy at any Walmart for $100.

I just bought one at Uymatiao, a McColloch with a Briggs & Stratton 675 Series motor. It is self-propelled and works well. Although expensive (25k), it is about a 6-8 month payback for what it was costing me for a crew to come and cut with a mofo weed wacker.

Well, not only is MTD made in the US so Oz has to pay shipping/customs fees, but Oz's minimum wage is double what the US is also! The people who build those mowers are earning $8 an hour, not $16!

It is of note that McCullough, as well as most US and Swedish small equipment brands such as MTD, Yardman, Poulan, Craftsman, Jonsered, Husqvarna, Partner, Weedeater, Troybuilt, Bolens, Cub Cadet, and many more, are now all owned by one conglomerate...

White Electrolux, the Vaccuum cleaner people!

95%+ of their US manufactured products are made in MTD manufacturing facilities in various parts of the Midwest.

If they are all made by a vacuum cleaner company does that mean they all suck? :D

Some clippers, a whip (a wet bath towel works as well) and a filipino would be cheaper than a mower. These crap mowers sold here would likely break down every 3 cuts. Filipinos have the ability to heal the whip wounds at little to no cost to the owner.

Please note that the whip is required, without that they will be ready to start again once they finish.

Not sure that a Hand mower (push mower) is available there in Dumaguete, ACE Hardware in CDO has them... Given the Whip and shears idea is not my Idea how to get a results... I agree that any task given the Locals is not going to be completed to Western Standards. Train them! Those who want to work will learn, those that Can't you replace. I had a Block wall built a few months ago, the build and materials pure Filipino...lol I tried to teach the "Mason" (lol) a little. Factor Language and the simple fact he thinks he is doing a great job! The end results was a very nice looking wall and at a very low price ($350 usd) labor and materials about 1/10 th the cost of the same in America.

But back to mowing, MTD equipment cared for will last... (It is junk!) but if your mowing large areas wrong Equipment!
So small Scale ( that hand shears and whip) a Push mower is much lower cost! No engine to maintain or fuel costs Simple operation... works for here....
