Well, since I'm predicting yet another fantastic flop, I need some inspiring words of wisdom....so I want to ask all of you.....since deciding to live in the Philippines...what was the worst thing/situation/moment that you've ever gone through here, and how did you bounce back?

I haven't had many problems in the Philippines. All the stress I have had came from trying to get my money back from foreigners who asked for a loan (I don't do that anymore) or from hanging around foreigners that were drunk and being loud a-holes (I don't do that anymore).

The only "problem" I've ever had in the Philippines was an attempted murder in my house and a string of burglaries afterwards. The attempted murder wasn't directed at me so I fixed that by cleaning up the blood and having the person who started the mess kicked out of the house after they healed up....and for the string of burglaries I bought some razor wire, replaced the locks and ordered a CCTV system....but it turned out that all I needed to do was replace the front door locks. Yeah, I know, not very inspirational. Perhaps if we knew the nature of your problem we could give better directed advice. So is it a financial, business, relationship or cultural adjustment problem?

Aaah, it's a long, boring story.
But I guess it'd be a combo of the first two...I know what I did wrong for the most part (Didn't get a contract drawn up and signed due to trust....thus now potentially being left on me arse again....my own fault. ))

I'm going to be trying my shot at beginning my own business, (( stupidly of course, with no initial investments, because I'm insane like that!)) and I've got the jitters and the 'what-ifs' pretty badly.

I'm not worried about things ending too terribly, because I feel like I've pretty much dealt with the worst that can happen here already (( my ex and getting punched in the face and living at the police station ))
But it's still nerve-wracking to think about failure and what One would do if stranded in a foreign land with no resources.

I guess this explanation is still pretty confusing....but it's a bit too complicated and personal for me to post out in the open in a public forum.

    Roles Reversed.

Jessica, help from a source that can/will help you I am sure, is on it's way I understand. Mr Wrye is of your age group and I Feel is better suited to try and give you help, He (To me Anyway) has an Alert and very Modern Mind that can see beyond us old Fogies but I feel a little reassurance from 1 or 2 more coud be good. Having read your Profile, I can see that you are Courageous, Adventurous and Do Not suffer Fools Gladly. I don't have any major Mishaps to tell you about, In many cases I am the problem. But post to add support.

From your First Postings I can see that from your stand Point you had already recognized that you have a Role reversal Situation. Here we are Mainly Older Men dealing with (In many cases Younger Filipino ladies). You on the Other hand are a Young Kano Lady Trying to Deal with Filipino males. so our Problems may be quite Different from your own.

Lets Hope that Wrye can help you to Sort a few things out.

As I am sure you are Aware, we are all here to help each other where we can. please don't go away thinking You should not have started this. All of us will help wherever we can.

Just Shout when you get Stuck.

Same as Wrye, I'm actually in the leaky boat due to trusting a foreigner :P

No fault of either of us, our greatest mistake was in not drawing up a contract stating exactly what both parties were agreeing to.
The long story kind-of explained discreetly....they offered help to me with visa costs and shelter in exchange for casual help for them....and casual has turned into full-on responsibilities....Mixed communication, micromanagement, and a large swath of responsibilities (but no trust to execute solutions) across the board have brought on most of the current issues.

Thanks for the help dudes....it's good to have an ear or two to just listen sometimes.

You're right in your observations about me lol But hey, even us rocks sometimes need to feel soft sometimes.
