A Frommers survey (see below) has listed NAIA as one of the worse in the world. No surprise here, when I saw the headline I had to verify it was on the list. Sure enough, right there with Nairobi and JFK. The worse airport I have been in was the old Bangalore India one, before they built a new airport a couple of years ago. Anyone been there? Manila Airport Terminal 1, Philippines - The 10 Worst Airport Terminals Slideshow at Frommer's
Frommers should be careful for criticism and feedback like this as it might find itself being listed as "persona non grata" like another person with a critical view when he embaressed our hosts. :-) Yeah, PatO it's an old story form last year and it's gone from being THE worst to now being in 2nd place as i understand it. Have not been to India and I'm in no rush
A local Sunday night radio show host is always going on about how to increase tourism in Dgte. But efforts have to begin right from the start, which for many tourists is NAIA, and of course the MNL taxi drivers who try to charge a fortune to get from Intl to Domestic. Frommers isn't the only reporting source disliking NAIA.
Would that radio show host share a name with a defunct, bald headed, lollipop sucking, American tv detective ??
How does the Cebu airport compare to Manila, from your personal experiences? I've flown many times to-from Manila on intl flights, just once roundtrip MNL-Duma domestic (took the boat roundtrip once too), but next week will our first time flying into Cebu from the US (out of JFK, unfortunately).
One thing I always keep in mind about NAIA. No matter how bad my experience there is, it's unlikely to be as bad as the reception the guy it's named after got!
I would agree with Nairobi, it must be right up there. The B Class lounge is like a self-service caf. The worst I was ever in though was the old Rangoon International Airport Departure Lounge.
