Pinoy Mountaineer: Mt. Talinis/Bediao-Apolong Traverse to Casaroro Falls (1,903+) Has anyone on the forum ever tried the climb? Something I'm looking into. I have some camera equipment on the way that will take some awesome panoramic pictures. I think it should be fun. I've never climbed before, I'm curious on the difficulty level and what I should expect.
Have been up there several times but never to the top wrye, it's pretty hard going especially in The rainy season, good boots and long pants as plenty of leaches up there! Quickest route is mentioned in blog which is near guiseppe resto, you can drive just below the tree line, other wise the apolong route is steeper and a good hike even if you only go up to the river crossing. A couple of friends of mine did it in a day last year, nearly killed them though
Yeah. I have a feeling I'm going to need to hit the gym to prepare for it. My girlfriend wants to go but I don't think she is in good enough shape or mentally tough enough. Quitting would not be an option and I don't want to drag her to the top. She is acting like it would be nothing more than a day trip to Casaroro falls. I'm not wanting a race to the top, I have no problem with 2-3 days and camping along the way. I did the long route to the crater of Pinatubo back when I was in the Army....and in decent shape....with an Israeli soldier and a guide. The little filipino guide wearing flipflops made us look like amateurs. Me and the Israeli guy both regretted taking the long route as it was pretty much a race to get back before dark. We are putting together a Tour Hiking Package for Aqua-landia resort. I will be doing some exploritory hiking up the Dauin area if you would like to come along. I am 65 and expect a hard hike. But, I am not planning on actual Climbing but just hiking the area for the view and the experience. We will be using guides from local Filipno hiking club. Once again, feel free to join in. Plans are to select a day when No rains are scheduled.
There is also quite a nice and interesting hike near the last village bediao across land into a ravine with a small river, then up the other side and then there is a small waterfall which is very warm you can follow a small path through the forest and will eventually bring you out to a hot geothermal spring! The trees and wildlife are fascinating down there, there are some huge trees and strange plants which I have never seen anywhere else. If anyone interested in going would be willing to show the route as the path across land is not easy to find.
Hi Davyl, I would like to see that!Does Bediao belong to Bacong? We could meet somewhere,I can probably show You also a hike You don't know.I hope You can send me a message, maybe I have not yet written ten times here?
Coming from bacong go past guesippi resto, just past there you will see a small blue sign saying edc dauin and another sign saying ahhhhhn inn, go up this road for a fair way, it does get a bit rough, before the first sharp right bend you will see basket ball area just past here there is small track on left. You need ask a local as I said it's not east to find and even I miss the track sometimes! This is also the shortest route up mt talinis from very top of this road!
Would love to go but I am currently overseas. I'll post this topic again about a month before I plan on climbing. Hopefully that will be around June of next year.
Ok Know the road...usually we go all the way up till the road ends and then start our tours. You can also access the Resirvour/Lake for Dauin on that road. Up farther I believe. That way connects to the Pasay Hot Springs (south) I also know that a trail connects North from that road to the Vulcano Cave. But been awhile since I went that way (7 years)
