I have never won A-trophy in my life, till now.
So what is Muscle Atrophy also known as Sarcopenia?
My recent vacation found me wearing shorts and a T shirt,
however, I quickly became aware that my chest muscles could now fit in a
    32/34 bra in a size B !
Very conscious of what I thought was weight loss, I headed to the scales.
Nope, my weight remains the same as of the last ten years.
Why has my biceps lost their shape to such a degree, I wondered enough to
    search for answers.
Edging near to my 79th birthday, I have discovered that from the age of thirty onwards
one starts to loose 3-5% of muscle every ten years!
Exercise and diet plays it's part in slowing the process down, but as they say, you have to be fit to stay fit!
The good news is, its never to late to start feeling and looking better, I'll start tomorrow.
    My thoughts for today.....JB

I hope that wasn't an apathetic quip at the end like when someone says they will quit smoking tomorrow. Loss of bone density goes along with muscle loss. I never could keep a schedule going to a gym. I'm much more consistent after picking up some second hand equipment for home.

No Mike, I have already started more exercise movements since we arrived home, and now looking at diet options to try to regain muscle strength,
    cheers John

John, as we get older our bodies can't absorb the nutrients from the food we eat. The solution is strict a diet and supplements.
Some good diet ideas on Youtube, Dr Berg. But consult your healthcare provender first.

JB, I have lots of atrophy due to my stroke 10 yrs ago, as well as aging. I have kept going to the gym and that has allowed me to pretty much maintain what is left of my frame. I try and eat a lot of protein - fish and chicken.
Sounds like you are doing the right things. Good luck and never give up.

Muscle atrophy can sneak up on us as we age, but strength training a few times a week can really help. The muscles won't grow but they will get stronger.
