Guys and gals, This is Important if your Passport can't be renewed in the PI. (and if it takes more than 60 days to get a renewal) :( The time has come for a dire need for the 6 month extension here in Dumaguete. Not withstanding the increasing volume of expats needing Extensions, the time of renewing Passports is making many, over stayers. I can only talk here about UK Passports as I believe the US still Issue in the Philippines. Other Nationalities would have to check their status on this. The current time to renew a UK Passport is about 6/8 weeks if we are Lucky as they have to be done in the passport centre in Liverpool UK. At times this can go to 3 months or more due to travel needs in the UK At this Time we get 60 days ( 2 calender months) from Extension to extension. Clearly not enough time to get a renewal for the next Extension. We can in exceptional circumstances get a paper extension on for 1 (one) Year from the Embassy, but no one seems to know if this will be acceptable to the BOI certainly not the local ACO. So a little heads up UK members (and those it will affect) if you need to Renew your passport from here, you are going to be an over stayer until you get your new passport. Could be 1 month 2 or even 3 months. They (the BOI) will not move on this and according to Mr Bueno (The local ACO) there is no move to go to 6 monthly extensions and with all the other things thrown on him, he sees no movement from Manila in the near future if at all. My Advice is if you are going to need a new Passport, Get your last Extension from am office that does the 6 months Extension. Then send off for your renewal immediately That way you get the 6 months before you are due again and hopefully the passport is back. I write this because it happened to a very good friend of mine only last Week. Thank You for Reading JP Over the next day or so I will try and get together a list of the offices that do the 6 month extensions or maybe one of you have a list and can post it
