Hi all, lived most of my life in Asia (Jpn resident). Thirty years visiting the Philippines, eight living here. Selling up in Leyte and hoping to find a decent rental near the town. Wonderful where I live but its bit too 'provincial'.
Welcome to the forum. Have you been here recently? How close to town is "near the town". Most expats here seem to prefer one of the outlying areas, such as Bacong, Dauin, Valencia, or Sibulan. Larry
Hello, was there for Christmas and New Year. I liked Valencia. As long as its not near an electric guitar/drum type church, tennis court, some idiot that thinks they can sing with a mike or a 1000 fighting cocks giving me a midnight chorus I'm happy. Lol maybe its asking too much.
Welcome too, you will have to look around a long time if you want to buy or long therm rent/lease, the regret I hear most often, is, that one did not look more around before settling on an object...
I already had a chance of two properties but have not completed my sale here. But I would be very grateful to hear of anything available. I don't intend to buy again. Its not financially viable as you get older unless you intend to leave it to someone. Although I've done quite well buying property that needed finishing.
Hyaku is a friend of mine and I am not sure how much he is willing to share on here, but I am sure it would be beneficial to all if he was to start a topic about protecting yourself when buying and selling a property in Philippines. The reason is, he bought a property in his gf's name, later married her, later had a tumultuous break up, and yet still managed to sell his property and recoup his investment, while she fought him every step of the way. It is worth learning how he did it as there have been many people say that cannot be done.
Hello Hyaku, welcome to the forum. Hope you find the place you are looking for that suits your needs. Rony www.pinayvisa.com
Thanks Dave, hardly tumultuous. Just a drunken brainless gorilla that has just about enough sense to realize not to fight for things you didn't buy in the first place.
