Where we live in Sibulan, the water is clean (clear without debris) maybe 2 days out of 10. Rest of the time crap floats around-mostly organic crap with foamy stuff on the water and then the morons who throw their clothes, plastics and other crap into the ocean. It's still swimmable, but just barely. I haven't gotten many rashes or other signs of toxic water and the little fish still are there-minnows, so I guess it's relatively safe? It's just a turnoff to swim in crappy water. THen we have the cretins who sh*t on the beach (watch where you walk). Are there any places where I can rent an apartment within 30 min of Dumaguete or close to any good sized city that have clean water and relatively clean beaches. Do I have to go to Bohol for that? It's a pisser being so close to paradise and yet so far away.
hi unkonven, we live on the other side of dumaguete and visit many beaches from here to dauin our favorite is the marine reserve at dauin you can park your car get a table n shade all for 70 peso great reef fish, beach and clean water cheers
Unkoven, The lovely "Bounty style" beaches are out of Duma and usually not easy to reach. Try Mike's Beach Resort to get the idea of what you can get as best. Zamboangita is also much cleaner but sand is black. Good luck
I took a look around dauin. The prices are getting really ridiculous here in and around Dumaguete. Mostly overpriced resorts near Dauin. I am starting to consider moving from this area, Dumag is becoming a tourist trap.
