Just getting reports in of a major tornado that has devastated Oklahoma City. It has caused widespread damage, with windspeeds up to 320 kph. Latest report gives at least 51 fatalities, 140 known injured with many others missing. Of particular concern at the moment is approximately 20 children who sheltered in a school and now can't be accounted for. At the time of writing this, it is getting dark in Oklahoma, and search dogs are being brought in to go through the rubble.

For our American colleagues on here, I trust that if you have family there, they are all safe and accounted for.

It was a big one. Wish all the families the best........but don't rebuild next to that trailer park. Tornados hate trailer parks.

This thread is directed to Wrye83; I had a family member who lost her life in the Oklahoma tornado. She didn't live next to a trailer park and she was very dear to my heart! I'm so tired of you and your posts. You feel a necessity to comit on every post on this site! I think your an arrogant *sshole who is looking for attention, even if it means stepping on peoples feelings or personal grieves. You should really take a break from posting, people are tired of reading your sh*t. And personaly I would enjoy nothing more then having a couple of minutes alone with you to vent my inposition

Pating, I am very sorry for your loss. Thank you for your post. I am an Okie, born and bred, lived there my entire life until I moved here. We are strong and resilient, and we do love our neighbors. The May 3rd tornado of 1999 threatened my entire family. We weren't rich, we lived in a mobile home, we had no storm shelter, so we piled our kids into the car and drove as fast as we could. That tornado was on our heels for an hour, following our every move, it destroyed EVERYTHING in it's path, not just trailers!! We found refuge in a Mcdonald's restaurant, put the kids in the bathroom under the sinks, as we watched the tornado pass by, transformers were exploding as they were hit, debris, insulation, household items, etc.. strewn everywhere. I volunteered in the following days, helping those who lost their homes, sift through the rubble, in hopes of finding a precious family photo or memento, ANYTHING that they could salvage. It was impossible!! I cried alot with the victims as they realized all was gone of their homes, but they were grateful for their own lives, although many did lose loved ones. Today has been a very emotional day, watching that horror replayed. I thank God my family is safe. Wrye, that was indeed a heartless remark when so many lives have been affected by such a tragedy.

Oklahomans are great people. The most trouble I ever had there was while taking a walk in the country, virtually every vehicle that passed asked if I needed a ride. God bless them.
