I still find it funny when I order a beer or a drink in the Philippines. The waitress would then usually ask: One, Sir ? At the beginning I would say as a joke: No, bring me 10. This reminds me of being back in the West. Pulling into McDonalds and ordering 2 plain cheeseburgers. "Do you want fries with that?" They would always ask (for years) and I would always say "NO!" Last time I ever ordered there (in the west) I asked for "2 plain cheeseburgers" Once again they asked if I wanted fries. I replied "YES"............"I will take 55 orders of fries, 24 chocolate milkshakes, 19 big-Macs, 45 chicken sandwich's, 21 apple pies, 19 chocolate sundae's and 40 Filet O Fish!!!"....."Can you please read that back to me and give total please?" After having it read back to me and being quoted some absurd total......... I said "PERFECT!!!!" "Now cancel the 55 orders of fries, 24 chocolate milkshakes, 19 big-Macs, 45 chicken sandwich's, 21 apple pies, 19 chocolate sundae's and 40 Filet O Fish........and give me just the 2 plain Cheeseburgers"
Possibly the reason they ask, "One?", is that the realize just how bad their own customer service is and wish to save you the frustration of trying getting her back to order a second when you are finished.
There are bars in Dumaguete *cough*Cafe Racer*cough* that I will order all my drinks in advance...if the staff even comes to the table to ask for my order. I think some of these places are so popular because you can just go there to listen to the music, sit down at a table and never have to put in an order. You could probably bring in your own drink and food and nobody would say anything (or notice).
Maybe the bartender is asking if you want to run up a tab and pay for more than one later when you are finished or if you are having just one and will pay up right away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If I buy and drink two at a time, is it still possible to have one too many? If I have one in each hand and do have one too many, will I be able to balance better?
