We rode the ceres liner bus from Bacolod to Sipalay.

It was about a 5 hour trip.

We got off the bus when a guy from outside yelled SUGAR BEACH.

Then we had to take a tricycle about 5 km. Cross a river in a small boat

Then climb around a big rock, with scary steps carved out of it. (no handrails)

Then hike about 1/2 a mile across the beach to get to the resorts.

We took a boat to the main beach (250 pesos) for the return trip, and it went much more smoothly.

We stayed in an A frame style nipa hut.

    At Sulu Sunset Beach Resort

The little hut was basic, but nice enough for 700 pesos per night. I was a little bit worried when I saw the room had no screens, and a mosquito net hung over the bed, with citronella coil also supplied. But neither me nor my wife got a single mosquito bite:smile:

We had fun at the bar there. I met a guy that tried to hang with me drink for drink

but he fell out early, like most others-

    Thanks for the replies.

I bought a new camera my last trip back West. It's an Olympus TG-310. $179 US via Newegg.

It's supposed to be water proof, (but I won't be testing it underwater) and it says "Tough" on the front. So hopefully it can withstand being dropped, or splashed /rained on.

One thing about where we stayed, is it's kinda remote. But there are 5 or 6 different resorts you can walk to, for bar hopping/food tripping. We only stayed there one night, so we didn't eat at any other resorts. The Sulu Sunset is owned by a German who has his Filipina wife managing the place.

We usually like to swim, snorkel, and float around in the ocean. But since we arrived right after a typhoon went through, the water was brown, filled with tree debris washed out of the jungle, via the river, and deposited on sugar beach. The locals were working hard when we arrived, digging big holes in the sand, to bury the trash, piling it up away from the beach, and also trying to burn it. But the next morning, a new layer was strewn about.
