More than 1,000 passengers were stranded in different ports in Central Visayas due to tropical storm "Egay." According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the largest number of stranded passengers in one area was recorded in Tagbilaran Port at 567. In Cebu's port, 451 passengers were stranded. My wife is one of them, She is stranded in Tagbilaran with her two dogs. That's why I asked on this forum if the crossing to Bohol will be affected by a storm on Saturday. Can't phone her or can't send any messages. She was visiting her Mother and the fiesta. Why she didn't contact the port before she set off, I don't know. I don't even know where she is sleeping, the two dogs are the problem nowhere to put them, suppose PH won't have kennels.
Jim So sorry to hear this. The Weather has eased so I guess she may be able ( if not already) managed to get a message to you, I can't begin to think how many of us would feel at this time, I know when we are in the UK and they are here is one thing but to have this and it is on the Doorstep so to speak. Jim I do hope things are OK. JP
She's still there for another night with her two dogs, I really don't know what goes on in inside her head, it must be empty. It was she who told me that Saturday the ferries would be canceled. so what does she do/ Travels to Tagbilaran with two dogs to the pier and surprise, surprise Ferries canceled. Why she won't go back to her mother's god knows. It's about 90 minute bus ride, or her Brother has a jeep, she won't ask him. So I'm bewildered what to do. her older nephew come to her with rations, because of the dogs she won't leave them, good girl. Ah well it's nearly 8pm here, so it should be 3am there. Hope she enjoys sitting on those metal chairs, trying to sleep. Maybe she will get on the ferry tomorrow, will keep you all informed. Hope she has learned a hard lesson. whats the word in Visayan " BULUK"
SHE'S BACK, finally after 4 days at the pier, the harbour master declared it's safe for the ferries to sail. Still rough the sea though and the two dogs got seasick. Better to be safe than drowning
They do seem to accept things far better than we do, I'm dammed if I would have slept in a chair at the port for a few nights. My mrs got stuck in tampi once as the ferry service were not running,I asked do you need money for somewhere to stay, nah I will just sleep on the floor somewhere here. Luckily enough the coastguard let the last ferry run but the bus she was on did not go and it was a tough one to get transport back to Dumaguete that time of night.
