Just look for some guidance on Philhealth. My wife's mother needs a thyroidectomy. She was at Cebu Doctors Hospital and the cost is 90,000 pesos. I found in 2011 Philhealth would pay 31,000 pesos for that operation. What I'm not clear on is if that's what the hospital should charge or that will supplement that much of the total charge. With my insurance there are negotiated rates as long as you are in network, so that would would be the final cost. If you go out of network, then they pay a percent that is less than at a member hospital. I found a PhilHealth list that says Cebu Doctors Hospital is a level 3 hospital as is Chong Hua. Does the level of the hospital make a difference? Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks.
"Does the level of the hospital make a difference?" I imagine it would as, generally, the higher the level the higher the standard of buildings, equipment and staff and that means higher costs to the insurer. It should say something about this on your policy.
I have never had a policy and currently reside in the US. My mother-in-law has a policy due to her economic situation and age. Since we'll likely be paying for it and not having a relative in a position to explain it, just trying to understand how it works. Thanks.
I sent you a PM but I am not sure you got it (or may have received multi-copies) as every time I looked it was still there.
Ok... we Ok... If your mother-in-law lives in Dumaguete City then I am offering to read her Policy to see if I can understand the Terms and Conditions for her if no-one else is available to do that. I could meet her in a public place and would have my Filipina wife with me.
Yes, they do vary; it is usually in the small print. The 'small print' is the part Insurance Companies rely on to avoid paying out if possible. They put limitations in literally very small print and create a very large amount of text so that most people are too p*ss*d off to read it. Then they get you when you claim with, for example: "You did not tell us you had an infected toe-nail 20 years ago, so your claim for a new hip is refused due to non-declaration of existing condition." The current problem does not even have to be related to the previous one! Claimants may be able to contest such decisions but it just adds stress at what is usually a stressful time.
I thought it's some kind of security when I'm asked to log in again everytime I wander elsewhere. When I stay logged in, I tend to forget my password and maybe even my name so what if for some reason I'm asked to log in again. I can only use mobile, a nerve injury perhaps--my shoulder hurts everytime I use my middle and ring finger on a keyboard or track pad.
