Does anyone know what the consumer protection laws are for the Philippines and what bureau it is that handles such? Just looking for an easy rundown of what my rights are and what business obligations are by the consumer protections. Less then a month ago I bought a new motorcycle, within the first week was back with issues and in less then the first month have been back 3 times each time the dealership (GUD Motors) saying they can't find a problem or that its nothing but I've had other mechanics say there is an issue and a friend with the exact same MC rides 10x better then mine does. I'm wanting to find what laws favor me demanding a replacement or money back if they refuse or at least what I can do in such a case. My hope is simply hoping under pressure and threat they will give in and stop the run around. Any suggestions, links, or list of laws that favor me would be appreciated. Thanks
File a complaint at the local DTI ( Department of trade and Industry) office. Those guys are actually pro consumers and you will generally get a favorable outcome.
Yes, the DTI is the correct authority. They are upstairs between BPI and Union Drug. You can read the law here; THE CONSUMER ACT OF THE PHILIPPINES - CHAN ROBLES VIRTUAL LAW LIBRARY Larry
