As I sit here writing this I am Slightly Amazed, Firstly they (Polaris) are here on the day they said they would be to Install our Sala Air-con, Secondly, They Arrived within 1/2 an hour of the time they said Thirdly and I am Impressed, they have a Young Lady 17/18 sort of Age who, is actually Working with the 4 Guys. Now I am certainly no stranger to Ladies Technicians, from my Air Force days, so this was not really a big Surprise in it's self but here, Well? Anyway, it is Still early yet. I hope I have not said things to soon this Morning. The Heavy Lift is still to Come as it is a Big one. If all goes well I will inform Globe Smart etc and tell them Get some Ladies on the Job, it may make the Work better ( well we can Hope EH?) Jack
So! all went well, Oh! there were a couple of Hiccups on supplies and things but we coped. It was at 4.40pm, that I had the shock that Made me smile after the initial Shock. ( Now the next bit is purely a male macho thing so please bear with me OK?) What the Young lady told me would have put a "Winner sticker" on her Service record if we had been a Military Unit and would have won the Admiration of our Flight Crew. The Little B..... [Used Totally in an Affectionate way here.] Refused to Commission the Instillation because of the Low Voltage for the Size or the Unit (3Hp) Of we Rushed to Polaris to Order a 10 Kv Transformer, No stock but 2 coming Monday, OK I will have one please. Sorry Sir, waiting List. Hmmmmmmm Ok lets see what we can pull out of the bag here. Never thought to mention before but our little lady is a 25 BSc in Electrical Engineering who is Studying for her Masters. Yep I am Impressed. Jack
Stupid question, but what brand is a "Sala" air cond unit? Is it a window type or a split unit? I have had both Panasonic and Sharp units here in the Philippines, but never heard of the "Sala" brand. _____________________________ I did a Google search and all I could find was that "Sala" air conditioning is a company in Dallas, Tx that installs various brands of Air conditioning units. There is also a "Sala Restaurant" in Makati Sala Restaurant | The Restaurant
He is referring to the room the air con will be installed in. i.e.. living room Definition of SALA : a large or important room or hall; especially : one used in a home for the reception and entertainment of guests <beautiful residences … with balcony, sala, dining room — Manila Times>
The way his post read, it sounded to me like he was talking about a Sala brand of AC unit. "Firstly they (Polaris) are here on the day they said they would be to Install our Sala Air-con" I guess it would have been more understandable if he would have just said ... "Firstly, they (Polaris) are here today. They said they would be installing our new air-cond unit in our living room". oh well ... what do I know
Turbota it is good to learn some of the terminology used in the Philippines it can save you some embarrassing moments. Next time you are in the market ask where the napkins are.... You will be directed to a shelf full of woman's hygiene products.... I am speaking from experience Jack Kudos on the Polaris report I myself have always had a good experience with them they always have a very knowledgeable staff and the engineers there love it when i bring them new types of methods and materials from the states seems the want to keep up to date with the western world.
Hi Jack, Similar problem here. Everything installed and running - after a few minutes power outlets are turning off. The A/C - 2 off 2 HP Sala and 1 off 1.5HP Bedroom are struggling to run. Power Supply into the property is the normal 230+, stick the Volt meter into an outlet = 230V. Turn on the 2 A/C in Sala = 205V - add A/C in B/Room total is reduced to 195-200V. We got a price from Solaris of 50,000php+ for a 10 Kv Transformer .... Now trying to get Noreco involved to give us a solution to this problem. As there were no Transformers in stock in your case, was there an alternative solution ??? Thanks again ................
I used to work with people in HVAC and electricians and they would frequently have a petite woman on the crew and she might be new on the job or in the industry....but she could fit where the men can't.
