    hi,
newbee here, i've been reading the board for awhile but i haven't posted til now. this looks like a fun bunch...

i just searched ''restaurants'' and came up with 277 threads : )
then i searched ''quiet restaurant'' and got 499 threads : )

can someone please save me wading thru 776 threads and suggest a quiet, non-smoking, air-conc in duma where a quiet speaking guy can meet a new female friend for lunch? a place where people can talk without having to strain their voices. of course, a little ambiance and good food would be nice too.

    thanks a bunch,
    norm : ))~

We use Howyang for meeting people quite a bit. It's not quiet at lunch time, but after 1:30 or so it is. It is a Dimsum with a fair menu at good prices, not really a "restaurant" as you may be in search of. Across from Lee Plaza between Dunkin Donuts and Mart1.

My other recommendation would be Hayahay upstairs in the tree house. Not aircon but nice ambiance, ocean breeze, and good food.

there is the Justz Cafe which just came up here in discusion, I knew it as the Boston cafe and been told its pretty much as I remember it which would be small, quiet and intimate. they did a nice lunch. pasta entrees, its artsy, had an art studio upstairs and a lot of stuff on the walls. It has a courtyard you can sit and eat in as well as an air con section. Its the corner of Corner Noblefranca and Santa Catalina Streets right off the waterfront

Coco Amigo's has a small aircon room at the back and it is always quiet.
    Also the food is good.

Kelpguy, welcome to the Forum. Firstly, good luck with your female friend, I like your approach. I would suggest taking her to a romantic setting like the beach restaurant at El Dorado Beach Resort in Dauin. It is not too far from Dumaguete and a rather nice setting near the water with great views.

I second the Justz Cafe recommendation. I would also at Mammia's and KRI to the list.

Try Gabby's Bistro at Florentina Homes...its another "ONLY in Dumaguete" nice ambiance reminds me of TGIF Fridays at Metro Manila but more affordable than TGIF Fridays. Good parking lot. Nice, clean, fast service. They have aircon and non aircon area.

    Dumaguete!

I have to agree with Mammia's, Discreet definitely, Gabby's can get noisy, Our OP, is looking for a Quiet, discreet place for his date. Does anyone think Edelweiss is suitable? What about Joe's by the sea? Cafe Laguna is nice but not too sure it is, that, discreet. Staff, Hover too much for me
@Pat, I forget where you said was your First Meal Date with Crislyn was. Maybe this is Good.
Of course CB has that Quiet Corner too.:p Kelpguy! if you are a Non Smoking, Non Drinking Couple, There is always the Bethel Guest House Restaraunt. ( Name escapes me):o both Don-Robertos and Cafe Antinio have web-Sites, Quiet, Unassuming and both well priced. The list can go on, we all have so many differinga opions.
