American Fugitive Arrested in Davao City for Child Molestation – www.philippineslifestyle.com (image of Woodridge subdivision, Ma.a, Davao City) DAVAO CITY, Philippines – An American national has been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration in Davao City under a warrant of arrest from the United States. 57-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Burge (Birge) was arrested at his home in Woodridge Subdivision, Ma.a, Davao City last week by members of the Fugitive Search Unit of the Bureau of Immigration. BI commissioner Jaime Morente said the American national will be deported for being an undesirable alien and for being undocumented because of the cancellation of his passport by the State Department. Morente told reports that “There will be no letup in our drive to flush out foreign fugitives. We will not allow our country to be used as a sanctuary for wanted criminals.” Authorities said Burge was set to stand trial in Tarrant County, Texas after a warrant for his arrest was issued on October 30, 2014 shortly after an indictment on charges of sexual assault of a child. Burge was to be transported from Davao City to Manila after his arrest, but the trip was postponed due to medical conditions – no word from authorities as to what the medical condition is. BI officials said Burge is currently confined at the DMSF Hospital in Davao where he was brought to on the advice of his attending physician. Authorities said they will eventually transfer him to Bicutan, Taguig City where he will be detained until he is deported back to the United States.
Bad news all round but it does answer something we have talked about before, cancellation of a Passport while the person is outside the country, I knew the UK did it but We spoke about the US not doing it but..............
I wish the USA authorities would also take that stand. The USA seems to have been transformed into a sanctuary for all types of Foreign Criminals
