Safer without traffic signs?

    So, reading the article in the link, I notice the author says: “When you don’t exactly know who has right of way, you tend to seek eye contact with other road users. You automatically reduce your speed … and take greater care.”

    He has obviously never been to Philippines to see that his theory does not work. On the other hand, I noticed there are actually some stop signs on certain streets in Valencia. No one obeys them but they are there. Any stop signs in Dumaguete itself?

    I saw those stop signs in Valencia recently. It was 10pm and I was just out for a cool night motorcycle ride and the American in me screamed I should stop. So I did and even looked both ways. What a nostalgic feeling.

    I can see one possible way that it could be more dangerous to have traffic signs and that would be if visitors expected them to be obeyed.
