Sanitary Landfill in Dumaguete City

It doesn't matter where the location of the proposed sanitary landfill will be, residences will move against it. That is very much understandable. They don't fully understand the difference between a sanitary landfill and an open dumpsite.

The previous administrations received notices of closure of the Candau-ay dumpsite in 2007, 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2016 but failed to responsibly implement the orders of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

What do you think is the better approach the city should make to create a permanent solution to the long-overdue waste management problem?

I agree. The city has been actively scouting for the last 7 months from neighboring towns for a suitable place for sanitary landfill to no avail. They have resorted to a smaller area for it from 20 hectares down to just 3.5.

The question should be if not in your barangay, where? since the idea of a sanitary landfill is already a viable, sustainable solution for me to manage a 50-ton per day waste disposal.
