His story of being taken while on patrol, which is absurdly ridiculous, was proven to be wrong in the first investigation. I'm not sure what this Major General is going to do besides go over the initial investigation. The reports made by people on the ground around him were probably far more accurate back in 2009 than they will be today. If anything different from this investigation comes out to favor Bergdahl I will see it as a saving face for the Obama administration and consider "SGT" Bergdahl a very lucky guy. I can almost guarantee this traitor won't be re-enlisting. His units was ordered to be publicly silent on the events leading to his capture for safety concerns. They honored those orders, because they aren't scum like Bergdahl who doesn't know what the word honor means, but now that he is free I doubt they will keep quiet if the new investigation doesn't tell the true story....and many of them have already started talking. BBC News - Sgt Bowe Bergdahl questioned over capture ------------------------------ "Major General Kenneth Dahl will seek answers on whether Sgt Bergdahl intended to desert when he walked off a military base in Afghanistan in 2009. The former prisoner of war has been working at a desk job at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, since he returned to duty." ------------------------------ It's already been established what he is. I hope he goes from a Taliban prison (if he was really a "prisoner"...he was looking pretty healthy for a POW of 5 years) to a military prison (I vote for Guantanamo to replace the 5 terrorists he is responsible for releasing). Here is an article from back in 2009. U.S. soldier captured by Taliban: 'I'm afraid' - CNN.com ------------------------------ "Bergdahl apparently left his small outpost on his own on June 30 with no apparent means of defending himself, the official said. Taliban commander Mulvi Sangeen said he visited a military post in the Yousaf Khel district in the Paktika province, got drunk, and was ambushed while returning to his car." ------------------------------ I actually partially believe the Taliban on this claim. I'm not sure he was drunk (even though that was the rumors going around about his leaving base when I was in country in 2009). I think he might have been in a car traveling with an Afghan he had befriended on base who sold him out to the Taliban for a cash reward.
Here is a visual of the area. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/06/03/world/asia/where-bergdahl-disappeared.html
