I have issues sleeping and walking up to an alarm. Found an alarm/sleep monitoring app last night that claims to be able to tell which stage of sleep you are in. It uses the motion and sound made by you at night to make this determination. (apparently you lay extremely still and quite during REM sleep and move around quite a bit when you come out of it) The alarm function gives a +/- 30 minute window on the time you set and will go off when you come out of REM sleep. I used it last night and the alarm actually woke me up right away. First time that has happened in a long time. Also with the app recording sounds and motion when you sleep it let's you hear what was going on when you were sleeping with a playback function. Sounded like some demons were visiting me in my sleep lol. Even if you don't have problems sleeping/waking up it is interesting to see what's happening and there is an option to send the data in for research purposes. You need and Android or iPhone to download the app. https://mysleepbot.com
Sounds interesting, I suffer from Sleep Apnoea and stop breathing 50+ times in a 6 hour period. Have just purchased a used CPAP Machine and sorting it out to bring with me when I land at the end of the month. I think I would hate someone to record me in my sleep as I often wake myself up giving directions or instructions helping someone out, I yap my head off in my sleep and even dream I am doing Facebook Admin work, often I wake up more stuffed than when I crawled into bed I work so hard in my dreams! I am SURE asawa is going to intercept one of those nightly dreams and make the worst of it as I have some damned weird dreams at times! :p hehe
It will be interesting when I get home as I have security cameras in my bedroom that will allow me to see, as well as hear, what I am doing when I sleep. Some noises last night that have me kinda baffled. I have watched it before when I sleep and I am in almost constant motion. (Unless I was pass-out drunk) I can, also, now prove to my SO that I am not the only one snoring and talking in my sleep. I'm sure the app will magically get deleted once I have evidence of that.
It uses the gyroscope for motion sensing and the microphone for noise. That's all it does, it is not recording eye movement or breathing. I don't think it can accurately tell what stage of sleep you are in, though a person might be surprised by what programmers can do with just the built in sensors in a smart phone. I think it sets off the alarm when you move within 30 minutes of your set alarm time. Whatever it is doing it is waking me up to an alarm now. If not for anything else it does a good job of recording the hours you sleep at night and lets you know how much "sleep debt" you have. (seems my problem is I only sleep about 5-6 hours a night......and then I have a big sleep of about 12 hours to catch up after several days of not enough sleep.) The app is being made by a researcher and asks if she can use the anonymous data of your sleep for a study......I'm guessing the data is for general purposes as nothing done by the app is in a controlled setting. (I'm sure that most people aren't sleeping on a cot in a shipping container at an airfield with jets regularly vibrating the entire room when they take off several times a night......not that those USAF guys can wake me up.)
And I wonder WHY am I moving to a Country with the bare basics.... o_O Secret Features Hidden in Your Smart TV
LOL Yes well, I have not watched TV since leaving Oz last December 2013 (& feel GREAT without being brainwashed by the tripe they dish up) and just gave away 5x TV's here as they were the old CRT type, not the Smart type. I think the snoopy BasTURDS here in Oz will miss listening in on my conversations of what I think of our Government and what I think should be done to fix the problem... Where I am headed; I have no opinion as long as I can stay there... :D hehe
