Purchased this monster smoker/grill and wanted to share some pics. There was an expat YouTuber that recommended this Philippine company Barrel Pro (don't know the rules on links so anyone interested can Google them). I've only got to see the pics but the quality looks great and the wife can attest that it is quite stout. I went pretty large with the 94gal smoker, but think the price is solid and hoping it will last many years. They have quite a selection, a propane pizza oven is on my radar as well. Shawn
I've made pizza in my Yoder before. Alas I will have to leave it behind when I retire. I was considering have a local welding shop build me one. Yours looks like it should last several years. If the metal gauge of your firebox is as thick as the hood looks, it should be able to handle 425f for a pizza bake. Smoked pizza is awesome!
Wow!!!! I have met your Wifes Family and all her friends along with your many workers that built your home and also that in itself is non-ending as you always have another project. You better get another one..haha.
I'm thinking this one could do a whole pig...guess I will see what it can do when I get home in September. Shawn
My friend had a cold smoker and used it for fish. I'm not a fish lover but the fish was like candy. Yum yum! I don't know why smoked fish is not more popular here.
I actually asked the wife about smoked meats and she said no one does it so no one knows about it. The farm will eventually have a fairly extensive aquaponic systems and will be using mostly tilapia, so there should be some options with what we do with fish. I have a small aquaponics system at the house and plan to harvest all the tilapia that are 500 grams and up when I get home in Sept. I'm going to smoke them and see what opinion I get from the wife, her family & friends and our current workers. If I don't run out of time on this next short visit I also want to smoke a whole goat; not a huge fan of how I've had it in the PI or middle east so curious if a good smoke will make it more appealing to the western palate. Shawn
Hi Shawn, Based on your recommendation I bought a smaller smoker/grill and firepit grill. Both look good and are well made. We'll be christening them in the next few days. The firepit grill is an ideal size for a few people to sit around with a cold beer and a few steaks. Thanks for the info
Cool...I'm still 3 weeks out from my little vacation so looking forward to hearing how they are working out for you! Shawn
i'd like to hear how smoking local Filipino beef goes tender-wise. here's a video some of you grillers, especially Americans, will find interesting. Kingsford Michigan: The Birth of Charcoal Grilling
for the grillers; charcoal briquettes made from wood are available at Roy Roy's eatery/Negros Egg Supply in the Sibulan Public Market.. that's on the cathedral side of the market building. ₱420 for a 50k feed sack filled to the max. not selling onesy twosy https://maps.app.goo.gl/NuEXcCmXB8RxxLuRA
