The Philippine Tax Identification Number ( T.I.N. ) is needed for so many things. E.O. 98 was supposed to make it easy for the average filipino to get it but the guard and old guy at the entrance to the B.I.R. conspire to make it difficult. My first thoughts are they are looking for grease for their wheels but I hesitate to offer it.

My gf needs a T.I.N. to get title to her town house I am buying for her. Aldea Homes won;t give title without a T.I.N. number ( remind you of the old novel Catch 22? ) Research on the Internet says all she needs is her birth certificate and possible proof of a bank account but this won't get her past the guys who give out the numbers.

The B.I.R. site says it is possible to get it on line under E.O. 98 but you must go through an authorized government agency.

So who can tell me where I can find a friendly GAI so we can avoid the idiots guarding the B.I.R.

There is just one more concern I have. I hate to give the B.I.R. too much information as when they find out I am donating the money or lending the money to her so she can buy this townhouse then I would not put it past them to say that is income for her and she must pay tax on it. Hmmmmm. Any experience in this???
