 When we go and buy a Car or Motorbike, normally we think ahead, Cost, Maintenance, Running. So we can Presume that the Bigger it is, the, more it will cost to maintain and Run,

Surely then, when we talk of a Resort, as a business, it stands to reason, the Bigger and better it is, the more it is going to cost. This is of course reflected, in the Charges made on people wishing to use it. No matter if they are Big Fat Ugly Foreigners  or Skinny beautiful Chinese or Filipinos (With their big Fat Ugly Husbands) or whatever, they are all People, charges are made as "per Person"

Now there will always be those that will say, they ate, drank more than us, No matter, Grounds, Pool and Utilities all have to be maintained and serviced properly, to a standard that we would wish for.

In the main, it is fair I think, to say that the better the facilities, the bigger the Area, the more Pools there are, the larger Changing areas with working Showers and toilets cleaned on a regular basis, are going to cost more to develop and maintain.

I don't, at this time, think any owners and many, are Local or Foreigners/ Local, Husband and wife team are thinking Riff Raff, stay at home, Nor do I think it is anything to do with lets price for the Foreigner. each person using the resort, pays the same price (well maybe, Discounts are available to some)

No point in going into actual prices as this is not, about cost in particular

My point here, is why some, are more costly than others, I have been to a lot, that are below a Figure quoted in another Thread, I was Disappointed in some things, so I will not go again.

I do not have rose Coloured Glasses on anymore, business is business, profits come from Usage, charges have to made to cover outlay in all areas,

You get what you pay for in life.(Not always here) but in the main, No matter who or what Nationality we are.

If we pay a hefty Consumable and it is not up to scratch. we have reason to complain, pay a small consumable then we have only got, "what we paid for"

    OUR choice

I don't think it really has anything, to do with any other reason, than the size and facilities available, that is related in the charges made.( Otherwise they would not remain in business, where others are cheaper)

I say this with tongue in cheek :D I am not convinced that any of the owners, are ripping any one off, Certainly not their own country folk,

I Firmly believe, it is a business like any other, The owners have, a Supply and demand to meet, it has to be paid for. For those that can't or won't pay for the Bigger and Better Places (one would hope so anyway) there are of course, the lesser priced places

In My Opinion on this anyway

I did not start this for any wars, Just maybe, to enlighten some, on the way a business is run, Being successful and staying successful, is the way, to keep prices down and being successful is not gained, by cheating and over pricing.
(well it should be that but we know, where we are)

To me, this is the criteria, for a Larger consumable at Resorts. If it is Bigger and has more facility's, it is going to cost more:cool:

( Hey gang, remember rule 7 if you are going to have a go at retaliating on this )

    Good Morning all

    JP

( I don't think I have upset or been derogatory to anyone, so, I will post the thread and hope it will make sense and hope, any replies come with good intent, as this thread was started:smile:

    IMHO:
In any type of business which provides some kind of service there is the one and only way to succeed and get profit: to increase the number of visitors (clients) and this is it. Wether it's a cafe or a beauty shop or a resort. Resort is supposed to get main part of profit from tenants, dining and walk-ins have always been additional sources of income for owners. Am I wrong?
Here we have the opposite, rooms, apartments and cabins remain vacant!!! Mike's Beach Resort in Dauin seems to be the most demanded and sucsessful with tourists. Majority of others remain empty. TO ME this is the reason where all these "entrance fees" came from. Ans these crap is a false path of developing a business.
I travelled both across Europe and Middle East. Never have I seen such thing like here. It always was EITHER consumable entrance fee OR fixed price for using facilitys. That's all but not BOTH charged!
Speaking of how reasonable these charges are is also useless. Resort DS is much older and smaller than next door MR but charges 150 entrance fee UNconsumable. Logic? Passed away. And let me say one more time: DS remains vacant almost all the time. Been there 5 times and saw no more than 7 tenants ever. And it;s empty not because it seems expensive. It's emty because it's a crap. Created good business - earned money. Created crap - zero income. Sad but true.

    Regards
    Mary

Customers vote with their money. If they don't receive the value they expect for the money they have paid they simply go elsewhere or stay home. The opposite is also true, if they think they have got a good deal and thoroughly enjoy themselves they will be back and tell all their friends about the place too.

Ha, I just got banned one a few km north of the airport because I posted a negative review online.

Ohhh noooo what I'm going to do now? O-|

Maybe 50 resorts in the Dgte area to choose from hahaha and I am banned from one that except during the months school is out usually has no one visiting them Mon-Friday during the day? I know because we've been the sole patrons many times in the past.

    Fine.

    Enjoy yourself

    Gabrielle,
Welcome to TripAdvisor any many - many resourses of that kind where you may post staying anonimus and be sure your review will never be deleted. In fact I call on EVERYONE to do the same. To improve a level of service is partially our responsibility!

sorry, to disagree. Tripadvisor is with small and medium sized establishments as faked as it can get. most resorts in Dauin asking their guests to write something good, in return they get some benefits, like a free dive/meal/drinks etc.

There are services out there where you actually can book reviews. I know a chick from Cebu who was booked by tripadvisor (or an agency hired by them) to post 500 reviews and forum posts on TA), 50 of them about Dumaguete, she has never been to Dumaguete.

Specially posting reviews anonymously is bullshit. you have something to say (good or bad), stand up for it.... much better, clarify it and solve it when the problem occurs in an appropriate manner. Usually the resort have a valid reason why things are like they are, or at least they try to solve the issue.
I rarely had an issue doing so in a Resort with foreign managers, no matter where in the world. But going back home and stab the back anonymously is about as lousy as it can get.

Some hotel booking agencies only allow verified guests to write reviews. They are a little bit more reliable.

A resort owner (who is a good friend and I do not doubt him) told me that a salesperson from Trip Advisor told him that $900 a year would buy him the rights to 'moderate' the comments made about his resort. He refused so I cannot say if it is actually possible or was just a salesman's gimmick to sell advertising.

The typical local owner here doesn't care much about customer service. The customer is always wrong in bizarro land-remember?

A valid complaint made from any location is not a stab in the back. In fact it's the only hope for travelers seeing rose-colored websites-or fake + reviews and getting a lot less during their stay. How long do you expect a traveler to hang around waiting for someone who can actually make a decision to show up?

I think TA readers are savvy enough to sort through the many reviews and get a sense of what's to know about a place

Any reveiw that does not include at least one negative should be ignored unless it's about the Ritz Carlton, where any associate has a budget of up to $5,000 to assure that the guests stay was as pleasant as possible.
