Seems there are better opportunities than IT work with more money, until you get caught DAILY STAR: Negros Oriental
Life for 2.66 grams of skunk weed. That'll make, what, 2 medium size joints....after you remove the 1.33 grams of seeds and stems. Yet the Marcos family who stole billions from the Filipino people still hold political office today. Priorities, people, priorities. Well that is rather suspicious. Nothing found on the first search, then only 4.65 grams "officially" found...yet convicted of having more than 21 grams. What kind of sh*t lawyer did this woman have? Maybe I'm missing something here. Also: If you throw me in prison for life you can p*ss off with your P500k fine demand. I ain't paying! What you gonna do about it? Throw me in prison longer than life?
"placed in a matchbox and weighing 2.66 grams, to a police-poseur buyer on Nov. 24, 2014. Eight more matchboxes were also confiscated from her. Ragay was also sentenced for possession of more than 1,167.27 grams of marijuana, placed in a backpack and recovered from her residence after the buy-bust operation." Mixing apples and oranges, well mixing Miss Gotual (21.81g) and Mr Argote (4.65g) anyway. I had to read it twice too.
Yeah, 2 pounds is a pretty good stash. I still don't think anyone should be thrown in jail for life for a drug charge.....unless they are actually running the entire operation. Question though: who the hell is Argote? The article title is "Two women meted life for drugs in Dumaguete" but I am seeing three names (and mention of another) and one is a "him": Looks like he actually did get let go because of the illegal/questionable police search. No mention on if that was the actual reason....and if there be an investigation into the police that allegedly planted evidence. And no info on this acquittal? Just some nameless senior citizen they wrongly arrested? Perhaps another BS search where police "allegedly" planted evidence? Also, I wonder if this person was a senior citizen when they were first arrested or if they became one while being held in prison waiting for their trial. Maybe Argote is the senior citizen? I've read it 4 times now and still don't know wtf is going on. Great reporting.
I think the draconian drug laws here will start changing once the USA has made marijuana legal. I can 't imagine someone in the USA military getting life her in the Phils for possession of weed. Medical marijuana has been proven to help so many people also. The Philippine gov't could turn things around if they made it legal. Less burden on the Criminal Justice System and more money economically.
