Hello, I would like to mention that I volunteered to donate 0+ blood at Holy Child on Christmas, and was turned away because I was 58 years old. I was told the donor has to be 18-52 y/o. If my age is not a factor at NOPH, I am willing to donate. Mark
People get turned away regularly for any number of reasons. Too old, too young, too fat, too skinny, blood pressure too high, blood pressure too low, blood sugar too high, blood sugar too low, blood too red, not in the country long enough, last night's dinner too rich, Doc doesn't like your blood, too bald, not a member of the local blood mafia, etc... The list goes on. The only way you would know for sure is to contact the number and see what their attending staff says. If they decide saving the patient's life is more important than where the donating person traveled last summer, maybe they will accept your blood. But, sad to say, probably not. Larry
