Late afternoon a foreigner eating at La Bella (?) escorted a girl from that side of the street onto the blvd grass and turned her loose while he went back across the street.. She was maybe 7yo and riding as fast as she could at times which may have been up to 10kph. She was riding without much regard for pedestrians, and just before she stopped she came within a foot or less of a toddler that was walking along/ So, in the event the guy who brought her onto the blvd is reading this forum, I'm just letting you know she was a danger to both herself and other people out there. - Take your pick as to which alarms you enough to decide to watch her when she's riding and instruct her about being careful/slowing down etc
Maybe it wasn't his kid and he just helped her cross the street so she didn't get plowed over by a Ceres Bus.
Bicycles (and any other vehicles) are not permitted on the actual boulevard and I have actually seen the Tourist Police stop kids on bikes and send them off the boulevard. But of course a foreigner is above the law, or so some think.
You could have been talking about anyone driving on two wheels here. At least bicycles don't make lots of noise.
wow, sounds like nothing compared to all the buses and motor bikes running through the streets with no regard for other's lives. Seemed like every week I watched someone get knocked down by a motor bike that clearly saw the target or victim in good enough time to stop, but the accelerator seemed to have a mind of its own under the adult driver's command. Intentional -it easily seems. Had a few close calls myself that would make me rather face a wild seven year old on a bicycle than the average adult driving the streets of PI.
