Yup, she lives in a not so nice place. But she's a sweetie and I'd like to buy her a good phone. I'll appreciate your advice on what to get and where to buy it.

    Mil gracias - MJ

Pick and Carry (2 shops in Dumaguete) have a large selection of phones.

Hopefully you don't plan on personally delivering it to her in Catobato. :o o:

As for the phone....I guess it depends on how much you like her and how much you are willing to spend. You could buy her a high end Cherry Mobile phone at a pretty reasonable price (I believe all the smart phones run Android). I think their most expensive quad-core phone is less than $200 USD. She would probably be very happy with their top model phone. You can pick these up pretty much anywhere cell phones are being sold....which is everywhere.

I personally wouldn't buy anything more expensive for that for a girl you aren't overly serious about.
[DOUBLEPOST=1430899135,1430898955][/DOUBLEPOST]Correction: Cherry Mobile's most expensive phone is around P14k.....I didn't see they made a phone with an 8-core processor (actually, I didn't even know that was a thing yet).

I bought someone a Cherry Mobile Omega Icon, really good specs, good camera 13mp high def screen, reasonable quad core processor with very good graphics GPU if they like games. Best of all it was 4k piso reduced from the original 6,499. 5 inch screen so visually pleasing (relatively) to watch a video or Skype on.

Thanks. Cherry and Myphone seem to be the low cost contenders. Decision may come down to which company provides the best warranty & support.

If you buy a phone from Lazada they'll deliver it for you for free anywhere in the country.

We're done with the Cheery Mobile phones with no system upgrades or support. We now have 3 Xiaomi Mi3 and Redmi phones from www.lazada.com.ph/mi/ starting at P4999.

You'll be lucky to get a 7 day warranty that is limited to manufacturer defects on pretty much anything you buy in the Philippines. Even if they cover it under warranty they will likely have to wait for parts or send the phone to Manila (3 months - ????). I have never been anywhere that would give you a replacement for a defective part....store credit at best.

Hi all - I bought her a Lenovo K3 Note from Gearbest, free shipping. A low priced octa-core, Lolipop, 13mp, 5.5" screen. $160 the reviews were good, fingers crossed. Btw, paid with cc and got double warranty (2 years).

Is GearBest a Philippine company? Keep us informed about the shipping. Interested to hear how long that took (and where it came from).

Update: after paying GearBest (a Chinese company) an additional charge for expedited shipping, they notified me they didn't actually have the k3 note in stock but might be getting them in 2 to 4 weeks. They didn't bother to mention this on their website when I placed the order. I cancelled the order and they did refund my money without any trouble. I eventually found ELN Online Store and was able to buy an Asus Zen 2 phone using my visa which doubles the warranty period. Eln shipped the phone with no problems. Summary: Lazada doesn't offer any warranties, Widget City doesn't accept credit cards and Gearbest sold me a phone they didn't have. Eln Online the winner.
