    Hi folks.

Well, I finally bought my M/C, and was promptly informed by the dealer, (it is a brand new M/C) that the registration will take at least 2 - 3 months to be in force.?

Also, when I asked about an interim permit, and the cost, I was told that I can only get one for 7 days, and then only renew it for a further 7 days. The fee is fine, only 400 Pesos each time, BUT, after 14 days, if I ride the M/C I am unregistered, which I was told everyone here does, BUT, I am not that courageous. I am not willing to risk it.

Interesting Country, is the Philippines.........................LOL :D

Does anyone know a way around this, where a longer permit can be obtained, or is that it ?

    Thanks.

    Paul.

I have noticed that a very large percentage of the motorcycles on the road have tags which expired years ago. However, a friend bought a new bike a couple of months ago and was faced with the same quandary you are. He chose to drive without tags. Got stopped by a bunch (15!!) cops one night. They let him go. No hassle, since he had proper ownership docs.

We have bought 2 motor\c one about a year ago and the first one in 05. Same thing as you were told by the dealer. Never did get the temp papers. Never had any trouble with it when hit the check points. But I didnt have any bad attitude to them either, just showed the papers, they know the story on the new bike papers and let us go on our way.
Hope everybody has the same luck I did.

    Thanks robgie.

I am probably the only one in Phil who does not want to risk it, LOL............coming from Australia, there are very heavy penalties for being Unreg, like,= losing the drivers licence, not being able to Register a veh for at least one year, maybe longer, and a very heavy fine.

Ok guys, your cods are definitely bigger than mine.........LOL................:D

Being the Devils Advocate, what happens if an accident occurs..................legally..............is the M/C Registered, and covered by Third Party Insurance...............?

Or, is the rider in deep manure.? ............................Go directly to Jail ?

    O-|

Just don't forget the hand-lettered "for registration" sign, OR and CR.

It had insurance included on the final purchase price included on the registration and insurance.
Worse fine I ever here was in (siquiwhore) one way street and no signs when entering, but sign just down the road , but it was several years ago. Maybe changed by now. Pissed me off, so havent spent a peso there since. never went back there again. oh yeah, was offered cheaper fine if I would pay on the spot, to the cop....
