Yesterday we decided to beat the heat packing up the car with our daily needs and off we went to OCEAN 24 at Valencia, We were first there and was pleased at what we saw nice clean pools and surrounds. But the hopes for a nice relaxing day was soon shattered with the blast of VERY LOUD music i could not believe this was going to continue all day, when asked why i was told the workers asked for it . We moved to spot as far away from the speakers as we could but still not talk to one another with out yelling. While we were there a car load of ppl arrived stood in front of the music for a few moments and left they were NOT pinoys lol . IF the place was mine i would make one of the 3 pools cooler and cut the loud music. OR am i just getting old? . CHEERS
I'm with you all the way on this. Obsessed with volume, addicted to bass, too dumb to understand that it doesn't attract business; instead it drives it away. It's never ending, intrusive, like a permanent migraine, a non-stop toothache. If you comment on it, you're told that "Filipinos like music", as if no-one else does. But there isn't any music, it's just electronic drum and bass, no music just noise, at maximum volume and over heavy distorted bass. Ask any Pinoy what a particular piece is called, who wrote it, who is performing it, and you're met with blank stares. It's been the same on the boulevard for the last two nights, with a stage opposite Cocos. No escape from it. Wherever you are, all you hear is thump thump thump, at such a pitch and resonance that it becomes annoying. The stage is surrounded by Pinoys listening for free, but those that could spend money are very thin on the ground. It's part of a very selfish mindset, which says that "I will do whatever I want to do, and I don't care who it inconveniences or disturbs." It's no different in the mall. Any gathering in the centre of the mall, has to be accompanied by thump thump thump at its very loudest, usually along with someone who, even though they have a microphone, still has to shout into it. Having loudspeakers at the entrance to a store, blasting out at noise damage levels, didn't work for Mart One, but like lemmings, others carry on in the misguided belief that it is the only way to attract business......and what easy-ride, travelling at walking speed, doesn't have an ear-splitting boombox installed ? Even at home, which should be your peaceful retreat, there is often no escape from it, because of neighbours who have a gathering and any gathering must be accompanied by maximum volume noise, with no thought given to anyone else that it might disturb. Opposite Holy Child, there is a store with speakers outside, with volume similar to a Jumbo jet on takeoff, blasting out, with a total disregard for the fact that it is opposite a hospital. Thoughtless in deed, selfish in the extreme. I don't advocate monastic silence, just some degree of control and consideration for everyone. If Ocean 24 are more interested in catering for the needs of "workers" than for their paying guests, they deserve to go out of business, and soon.
Noise pollution is rife here,we have the fiesta disco behing our property which is now no more because the Chinese guy who owns property has fenced it also these after market motorcycle exhausts, the guys think if they remove the air filter and put on a loud exhaust it will go faster hehe, never learn! Like the last poster said loud music outside shops will drive westerners away,we avoid them like the plague. They just don't get it!
Do what i do and say you noise is sh*t, if more viewed there displesure at these shops then they might I say just might get the message, go see the manager and talk quietly to them, then when they ask for the music to be turned down so they can hear you then you say exactly. then walk out
Hey if you don't like it go back to where you came from.... hahahahhahahha, sorry couldn't resist!! Seriously though I complained in McDonalds couple weeks ago they were playing sh*t noise loud and told them to tell the manager they could either turn it way down or I would not be frequenting McD any longer, they turned it off.
I have come to the decision that the love of noise here is genetic. It is part of the Spanish influence. It is similar in Mexico and other Latin/Hispanic American countries. One notices it in predominantly hispanic neighborhoods in America too. They don't have a clue and don't care to get one either. The words selfish and stupid come to mind. O-| Maybe all noise haters should be issued noise cancelling headphones on arrival in the Philippines? Bose | QuietComfort® Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones | Headphones
well said Knowdafish, They can stand along side a barking dog and talk at the top of there voices to be heard .Not many of the shops with the loud music are targeting long nose shoppers nor do they get any . Both selfish and stupid fit in well. you can drive a horse to water but a pencil must be lead
This might explain why when you call for a waiter/waitress in this country they normally don't respond. Perhaps they just can't hear you after all the years of listening to music at the volume similar to that of a jet engine. It's really not a problem here I care about. I just avoid those stores that do that crap. Luckily the only problem I have is a local church that apparently gives every member a microphone while singing. That's only on Sunday mournings so I don't really care too much.
Well Spain must have grown up and rid the sh*t noise. I have been going to Spain for over thirty years and had a bar/cafeteria in Costa Del mar (south Spain) It was the British who made all the (sh*t noise) Not the Spanish
I know what your saying my friend.. I too am annoyed with the loud music that not only has very poor quality, but also is so loud that you cant even hear yourself think. but ive been in the Philippines for 3 years and I have learned that its not my country so I cant complain. Filipinos do a lot of things that I would consider rude annoying and un-thinkable, but who am I to complain?
