    And on the up side, the typhoon alert seems to be keeping most of the singers and beggars away...
    in our area anyway :smile::smile::smile::smile:

    It is sort of a tradition to give the singers 20-50p for their efforts. Not everyone has to agree with me on this.

    I tend to agree with you Pat but......... I also think it is a tradition of Theirs to go to all foreigners and lucrative looking local houses first and only hit the mob houses when the daily target is not reached. Hence only 2 days ago, 7 troops of singers in 1 hour. o_O one of the troopers ask me. Sir! where, are there more Foreigners living?

    I kid you all Not, the blighters are getting entrepreneurial now

    They know where to hit.:eek:

    I think that it is only the gate, a painted wall. ... there no bulleye is needed to attract smart entrepreneurial thieves. I mean when was the last time you saw a large screen TV stolen from a bamboo house.

    I am grateful that my neighbor put of a 10 ft wall, with bars on top with razor wire rolls on top of that. I mean why would someone want to break into my house, when I only have on chicken wire type fence 4 ft tall. Obviously I have nothing of value inside my property.... But a 10 ft wall with razor wire on top... wow there must be gold inside or at least lots of rice. He obviously has more friends than I do... lol

    They have to make a Peso anyway they can here, there is no Unemployment benefits that I know of, and those families unlucky enough not to have a OSW to feed them, have to survive somehow, as the employment prospects are not great. I guess if we had these problems in our own Countries we would be doing the same. When I get them coming up to me saying: "hey Joe, give me money". I inform them that I am not a Yank............lol......:D ( no disrespect intended guys ) ......and I tell them that Mr. Aquino can help them, his number is in the phone book".................lol.............:D.......they look at me dumbfounded and walk away totally confused. Yes, I know, I am a very evil person......ha ha ha ha ha:p

    Point taken Roger but..........this lack of unemployment, no social payments or handouts does not seem to deter many from Knocking out more and more children and getting drunk every day and gambling ( Cards , Cocks or Spiders):rolleyes: yet just send the Kids out to earn? a few peso's so Papa ( and/or Mama) can get their daily fix of Whatever. I am full of Xmas cheer to those that deserve it and can demonstrate some sort of Responsibility but the longer we are here we can see the pattern emerging each year.

    You mention what would we do? well, I think we have all learned enough in our lives to come up with something a little more meaningful and lucrative than this once a year Fiasco. No Roger you are not Evil but somewhere we each have to draw a line. It is very odd how my wife will give and then moan about it. Me I just go to the gate and tell them, it is so & so date , Come back nearer Xmas and if & I mean If you can sing me 3 Christmas Carol's all the way Through i will pay you something.

    :eek: But we don't know 3 all the way through! So go learn them and then come back. I won't hold my breath and I will not pay them to go away as others do.

    :mad: As I sit and write this at 9.20 am I have just told yet another 2 kids to go home or go to school (where they should be) {Class closure for the Typhoon is over} yet our Purok is full of kids.

    Morning All

    Now for the NON-evil side of me:D We always donate, not money, but food, goods and clothing that we purchase ourselves, to the Typhoon victims. And make sure of course that who we hand the stuff over to are legit.:cool:

    Regarding Phil beggars - there is guy, possibly in his 50's who wanders around Duma, with his hand out asking for money for food, that actually is very well healed. He dresses like a beggar when ''working'' but lives in a very nice house that he owns in a very nice neighborhood. He, I am sure, would not be the only one who does this for a living.:mad:

    There are also women carrying babies that have their hand out, and the babies are not theirs, they hire them for the day.:eek:
