Dumaguete is a city that is also known as a university town because of the many educational institutions that are being born in the area. The latest educational institution that opened in Dumaguete is the Maxino College.

Maxino College started its full operation last June 2007. Maxino College is situated in Barangay Bagacay in Dumaguete. The Maxino Family founded Maxino College in Dumaguete with the leadership of Dr. Gerardo Maxino. Dr. Gerardo Maxino serves as the founder and president of Maxino College.

Maxino College is considered as a school that has a community that is composed of caring scholars who are service-oriented and get their inspiration from the Roman Catholic faith. Maxino College was established not just for business purposes but mainly to serve the people and students of Dumaguete. Maxino College aims to provide an excellent and quality education to students who are poor but deserving for an scholarship.

Maxino College is offering five degree programs for any student in Dumaguete and the neighboring towns. These are Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science, Bachelor of Science in Physics, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and Bachelor of Computer Engineering.

For students who are deserving for any scholarships, Maxino College offers scholarships depending on the status of a student. For students who graduated high school with high honors like valedictorian, salutatorian, or first honorable mention, Maxino College will them a full scholarship that includes free tuition and miscellaneous fees. A full scholarship that gives free tuition fees are given by Maxino College to those graduates who are in the honor roll except the three highest honors mentioned above.

The founder of Maxino College, Dr. Gerardo Maxino, is a former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences on Silliman University in Dumaguete. He is also a retired head of the Physics Department and an alumnus of Silliman University. He has 42 years of experience in the teaching profession in Dumaguete.

Upon establishing Maxino College, Dr. Gerardo Maxino has the intentions of facilitating quality education to the students who are financially challenged but are deserving for a better education in Dumaguete.

The faculty members of Maxino College are mostly composed of Silliman University alumni. Included in the faculty members are Portia Dacalos, Gemma Maxino Torres, Grotius Wilbur Maxino, Linus Maxino, Ivy Maxino Bartolome, Remedios Maxino, Hospicia Maxino Sy, Jonathan Tse, Robert Ryan Cruz, Catherine Maxino Cruz, Clare Maxino, Theresa Maxino, Atty. Mars Maxino, Vicente Maxino, Dr Joy Reynes, Dr. Cora King, Dr Imelda Flores, and Dr Vicenta Maxino.

Maxino College may be new in the university town of Dumaguete but the quality of education they offer is very competitive.
