- Thread: TV repair recommendation

Had a 55 inch TCL lose some Led backlight so looked for someone to fix, the authorized repair in Duma was LJ Electronics off of Jose Romero down the road to DACCA . They fixed my TV while I was in Duma for the day (we live in Pamplona). Never had one day service in the 6 years here in Negros so I cannot recommend highly enough. cost was 2500 plus parts. Very satisfied

- Thread: Kitchens and Termites
There is a method in which to build Kitchen Cabinets and have them as near to Termite Proof as it gets, the carcasses are made with steel studs and then a 4.5mm Hardiflex is screwed on to that both sides, the only wood involved is inside the steel at the front to enable me to screws the hinges on and to have a second crack at it if the first screws fail, you can rely on the metal by itself to fix the hinges on to but in event of a failure it means you have to reposition the hinge on the door and carcass.
There is 8 units in total 3x 1000mm units, 2 x 500mm units, 2 times 300mm and one full drawer unit, 2x600mm spaces for a free standing Cooker and Fridge. the wood that was added was soaked in Solignum and the cavity in the partitions had some Borax and Boric acid added to them to give assisted protection to the wood inside, I will attach a few pics of this to give some idea how it looks half way through the job, total cost up till now is P15K I expect another 5to7K will see the job done? Also there will be one of a simple ladder 11ft high which cost P2250 to make myself, this is as strong as you can buy here with closer than normal treadsong as anything you can buy here with closer than normal treads.

There has been discussions here about this card which can be obtained at age 60 if you are a permanent resident 13A, been here for over 6 months (And your Asawa also carries one) That's the only way by law you can utilize it as a Foreigner and it is against the law here for an establishment or business to deny your benefit from it if you meet that criteria as pertaining to their obligation to Seniors under the articles (learn them well if you intend to present a card for savings or benefit)
Not meeting the above criteria as I have clearly stated it...... can result in a (no less than) 50,000p fine and no greater than 100,000p that may include up to 6 months jail and instant deportation with no avenue to avoid such deportation. No defence, no hearing.
Eg; You have a Tourist Visa you renew and you have resided in the Philippines 10 years and your Asawa is under 60. Do not use the card.
Eg; You have a 13A, and your Asawa stays at home as you shop and she is 59 and you obtain benefit. You may be risking everything!
If your a Foreigner in the Philippines, best not to risk deportation to save 20 pesos at a Mc Donalds.
----Use the card for line up queues---- No worries
-Make darn sure you meet the requirement fully under law.
At the end of the day....... If yah really need to use it for a benefit savings, do the Country a favor and go back to where yah came from. They may just send yah,-

Most of the hospitals have no oxygen supplies so ventilators which require oxygen don't work. After my moderna vaccination for my constant pain radiating from my lower back to my left hip bone and extending through my left leg and ankle.
I received an appointment that evening after three patients at the hospital. Little did I know my pain doctor was the last resort to administer chest compression before they die. My appointment time required on three patients dying first and 43 waiting another day, as of Thursday night. He said most were unvaccinated.
The pain Doctor wanted to find the cause of the pain, ordered a lower back and extremity MRI and EEG along with a copious supply of pain medicine 3 times a day.
Knowing my medical history enabled the Family Medical Doctor to remove the flashing pain and a tablet to combat weekness in my lower legs. The pain doctor wanted me to continue them.
The saga continues!

- Thread: PH drops quarantine for fully vaccinated travelers coming from ‘green’ countries from October 14th

https://cnnphilippines.com/news/2021/10/13/PH-drops-quarantine-fully-vaccinated-.html
This makes it so much easier now for those entering the Philippines or expats here who want to go out but are concerned about quarantine on their return.
The 'Green list', updated on 4th September, includes Australia, China, Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of China), New Zealand, Taiwan. I have shown only the countries (from the list) almost everyone would find relevant (including those on a Visa run) but the fuller list can be found at:
https://www.cnnphilippines.com/news/2021/9/4/IATF-updated-green-list.html?_=1634120215272
It does not yet include US, UK, most of the EU. Read the article for full details of tests and documents required.-

- Thread: A word for face shields
Notmyrealname DI Forum Luminary Highly Rated Poster Showcase Reviewer
Having read about vaccinated people catching Covid (but generally NOT getting hospitalised) I think everyone (vaccinated one dose, two doses or unvaccinated) should be thinking about face shields - whatever government tells us and whatever people will write here about air currents! I am not such a great fan of putting too much emphasis on hand washing as between washing times the virus can so easily be picked up and passed on. I am a 100% advocate of well-fitting face masks combined with face shields (although until now I wore the latter only when requested by a store). The face shield helps prevent droplets landing on the face mask and also prevents touching of the eyes and this area is not covered by a face mask but is a perfect route for entry of the virus (many studies show this to be the case). It may be that many infections in mask-wearers are via the eyes by touching or by transmission through the air from an infected person. I wear specs so have a part protection (mainly to reduce touching of my eyes) but it really makes sense for me to wear a face shield all the time outdoors as I am not yet vaccinated. The fact that vaccinated individuals are getting Covid means the same for them - although their risk of serious illness is far less but the unpleasant experience and worry is still best avoided.
