Some good news for our area at last: out of the 23 quarantained persons in the Dumaguete area 20 have completed their 14 day quarantaine yesterday, all without showing illness. One more will complete their 14 days today and the last two on sunday.

Also keep in mind that there's still only 5 persons (if my information is correct) in hospital here, of which 4 already tested negative for the virus (still awaiting results of a second test). The fifth still waiting for results of the first test.
I mention the "still only 5" because it would seem unlikely that more patients would surface from contacts of the initial 2 chinese patients and these 5. With the incubation time of max 14 days we would have already seen more if there had been further spread.
Obviously this doesn't mean we can sound the "all clear" yet, but at least it seems likely at this time that the visit of the two chinese infected people didn't have disastrous consequences for our area.

 

I have come across this here when I am told "But so & so will pay this much" I simply tell them to ''go and see so & so and deal with them then.'' Of course you cannot do that with a Restaurant, but I have noticed some foreigners who come here for a Holiday, do like to talk it up and say how cheap things are here compared to back home, making it that bit harder for us who reside here fulltime.

Sorry that I have not read well all threads here but.....

We have eaten here about 10 times and NEVER had any feeling the owner was hinting at donations. Absolutely nothing, he chatted about his work, I even offered some books from a charity I work with. He was most grateful.

Food, company staff and guests whom frequent all top of the line.

It's our choice to live in 3. world country, and sometimes we meet a reality, we are not used to. I have phone numbers in my wallet and of course in my phone. It's scary to think what will happen to you, if you end up unconscious in an accident, hope you are lucky and meet right people. I know and seen foreigner run away from accident where people are injured, try it my self. I understand why they run, I'm no saint, but will always stop and do what I can,to help a person who can't take care of them self. I will follow to hospital, I don't say I sign to pay hospital bill, but will try find out if there are a family or friends around, who can take care. Hospital can't force you to sign or pay. I can live with my self after, I know I did my best

 

PLEASE, as an intelligent person, explain to me how using vaccination against smallpox (as just one example) is a "temporary misguided efforts to delay the inevitable". It wiped out whole races when carried around by 'explorers' and is likely to re-appear only if used by terrorists - if it is then the vaccine stockpiles will be used. Or do you really believe it better we allowed such diseases to run rampant and wipe out whole sections of the human race?
