I AM TOTALLY PREJUDICED: against liars, cheats, jerks, psuedo ninjas, big shots, braggers, pretend special forces members, nonsensical morons AND bad drivers- the colour of their skin or their race, creed, religion or accent has absolutely nothing to do with it.

- Thread: SUGAR
You make a lot of wonderful and useful points in your post about sugar in the diet. Those who are obese, diabetic or prediabetic would do well to read and learn from your post.
What's also true is that any form of carbohydrates are also converted to glucose in the blood - essentially having the same effect as sugar.
Breads, pasta, rice and other grains, fruits, and root veges like beets and potatoes (white or sweet) are all carbohydrate-heavy - and so have a very similar effect on obesity and insulin resistance.
I gained 40 lbs in the last year, and was diagnosed in August 2020 with diabetes at the Ace Doctors Hospital. Of course, they prescribed a maintenance drug - Metformin - to lower my insulin levels. But I have always rejected the idea of taking foreign chemicals into my body on an ongoing basis. I researched diabetes and obesity extensively, and have been able to reverse diabetes and drop 30 lbs. in the 3-1/2 months since my diabetes diagnosis. And dropped 5 inches from my waistline.
- Those heavy 40 liter drinking water bottles we lug around? I have dropped 3/4 the weight of one of those. I hike a lot around Valencia and Negros Oriental, I would hire a porter rather than carry a backpack that heavy.
For those who are interested in how that occurred I've written about it in this article How to Reverse Diabetes and Lose Belly Fat in 60 Days.
Losing weight and belly fat, improving organ function, and reversing insulin resistance add lifestyle quality and years to our lives. We've worked so hard throughout our lives to find ourselves in this wonderful place. Let's enjoy it more every day, and live longer.-

When my filipina ex-wife first slept with me... I found out that she stayed awake the first 2 nights as she (older generation) thought as I was from England I must be a vampire! After 2 nights of my not sticking my fangs into her neck she finally accepted I wasn't

I agree that leaders sometimes seem to be chosen for the wrong attributes - 'charisma' being a big advantage. But with the 'celebrity culture' there is a danger leaders will commonly be chosen due to exposure - it has already happened. People even talk of dim-witted 'Instagram' types as potential leaders (I mean the 'look-at-me' posers, not the readers).
But I wish you had not digressed onto the second part, about this Forum. Try to find its equal here in the Philippines and you will struggle. It is not necessary to moderate it to the point when anyone finding difficulties in expressing themselves clearly in the written word gets put off, especially those who do not have English as their main language. This would just reduce the value the Forum provides to 'newbies' finding their feet and the established (who by now probably have trouble seeing their feet!).
If it ain't broke then don't fix it.-

Also, her operation had to be repeated at Holy Child - it was not exactly the same but was similar (in fact, it is quite possible the extent of the operation in Silliman was unnecessary and she could have had just the operation in Holy Child). Prices: Silliman - 3 days inpatient (IMO totally unnecessary even to be an inpatient) at P87.000; Holy Child - 15 minutes stay and a cost of P5000. There were other issues at Silliman, which I will not go into here, but there is a doctor there I would not use even if I was dying.-

Makes me wonder why some expats are so quick tempered. Filipinos are, by nature, slow people and those not used to this slowness usually lose their temper. You have to remind yourself that you are no longer in USA or wherever is your place of origin. Welcome to the Philippines!

Whichever it will be, having had at least one loving parent to provide emotionally instability, nurture, and set good examples in a happy childhood, I am certain that, as a teenager, she will overcome grief in time and will have better chances at overcoming the challenges before her -- be these in Philippines, Thailand, or in USA.
The childhood memory of a father’s love in her heart will be her confidence in good times and will be her strength through bad times. May Frank rest in peace.-
