    I don't know.
    Here, Here.

Requiring bank statements and police background checks for a visa extension would greatly reduce the number of social rejects. Many countries require this after about 3 or 4 months.

I had lunch at Los Mariachis yesterday (during brownout).
They had a small genny running and the ac was working. I'm not an expert on Mexican food but I really enjoyed the Enchiladas with guacamole and refried beans. The service was very good - friendly, quick and they asked if I was happy with the food. Beer was cold, and they brought complimentary corn chips. Surprisingly little noise from the traffic. The place is clean and bright - a little bare looking at the moment but the owner says that's a work in progress.
All in all, it's a pleasant little place, good food, good value and excellent staff.

The particular dog that this particular foreigner in the photo kicked was a family pet on a leash wasn't it? Totally Not the same thing as the wild dogs running around all over the place that do get treated a bit.... rough...

I tend to agree with most that a safe room is not really necessary if you built your house solid. A security door, barred windows that are solid should be more than enough. Wireless security alarm systems are very cheap and a novice can install them as well. There are also "dummy" cameras that you can install here and there that could also act as a deterrent.

Most thieves are lazy and looking for an easy opportunity in my opinion but if someone truly wanted to get into your house and were well prepared most likely they would get in. I know my house is pretty solid, but I know how to get in if needed and if someone was set on getting in they probably would figure out a way.

Also, if you were worried about typhoons and such a solid house from the get go should keep you safe in my opinion. There has not been a serious typhoon since I built my house but I'm pretty sure some of our neighbors would be outside our gate looking for safe haven if one was coming.

I've been part of a number of secure facility builds over the years so it is not too terribly difficult if someone had their heart set on a safe room...I'd be willing to bet Mr. Google would have some designs out there.

A trailer/RV like back in the States would be a luxurious lifestyle here. My bedroom is a about 9ft x 6ft. No kitchen, bathroom or shower, those are a 1km drive from my room.

My parents had a pop-up camper when I was a kid and we would go camping in the summer in that. I enjoyed that...and would love to have one of those here.

I wouldn't have a problem living in something the size of the condo shown in this thread if it were a holiday or a few months it off the year...but I couldn't ever bring myself to drop the amount of cash they are asking for to make it a primary living space. But obviously there are people willing to live in such small spaces. More power to them if they are satisfied and happy with that.

Been reading this thread with growing amazement. Why in hells bells name would an expat need a Senior Citizen discount card?? I can understand why a large number of elderly locals need something like that, but an expat of 65+?? Get real!

How does a thread about hospitals move to bickering about the 24 hour time format and the illiterate? I'm quite sure that people must be adults to join this forum. Can we at least act like it?

So you are saying, as I have read many times elsewhere, that it is the family who raise you that bears more value than those who created you?

If I am not in error of understanding you had a incredible adoptive family, I can compare that with being born into a family of 5 children and having a physically and mentally abusive father. Our ages (me and siblings) now total over 370 years but we still all suffer the scars, as did my mother from age 19 to her death at 73. Nothing beats a caring family, whoever the parents are.
