NegOr Chief Executives/Mayors and Incident Commanders Meeting convened by DILG. Discussion points. In attendance were Vice Governor, PHO, and NOPPO

    1. Letter from OPAV and the DILG MC 2020-062 allows stranded residents to come home. This their constitutional right. This was the opinion of DILG. The directive and reminder came from the Presidential Management Staff. Governor, Vice Governor, and mayors. Dumaguete City Mayor Ipe Remollo also gives his opinion to follow the President and national IATF. All returning residents need to be quarantined at their respective hometowns and must be fetched and transported by their own LGUs.

    2. Motorcycle backride is allowed. No back-ride policy is not yet enforceable according to NOPPO Chief Col Entoma

    3. 24-Hour Curfew for Minors and Senior Citizen has a Sangguniang Panlalawigan ordinance. Let us wait for the copy. The Executive Order and the Ordinance already enforces the 24-curfew.

    4. Standard curfew for all. This is at 9PM similar to the EO released. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan already enforces the standard curfew through an ordinance.

    5. Enhanced Community Quarantine is being seriously considered but not for now. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed a resolution encouraging to declare the State of Enhanced Community Quarantine. Many factors are being considered and the provincial IATF needs to meet on this and call another meeting for mayors to present the plans and program of action.

    6. Quarantine pass only when in ECQ. We need to prepare for now. Barangays are not required to implement as of the moment.

    7. A building in Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital will be dedicated to COVID-19 cases. This is because we have Negrenses who cannot afford private hospitals so we cannot dedicate the entire NOPH for COVID alone.

    8. Cities and municipalities need to assign a quarantine area.

    9. Checkpoints in municipalities and cities can only do thermal scanning and monitoring. They cannot require other requirements and should allow entry unless the city or municipality is a border to another province.

Rule number #1 in this country don't ever pay a maid 5000 a month.... Don't ever hire family period. Live at least 5 islands away from your wife's family. If she doesn't like it you don't have a wife, you have a Gold Digger.

    I don't know.
I had a quick look over most of the postings here to see if there was a mention of Latinos in Valencia and there seems to be nothing said about it? Anyway was there today for for Lunch, they have an extensive menu most of which were at reasonable prices, I have eaten once before at the old place on the south highway and remember that being quite good only the décor left a lot to be desired, our 3yr old at the time was very upset the moment he walked in, in his small mind it must have looked like the house of Horrors, however the choice of colours in this new place are not so gloomy, only our now 4.5yr old said the floor is dirty, probably not the case but it is a whole mix mash of different tiles with splashes of cement here and there this could never look clean no matter how good it was washed, just to give an idea of pricing a Burger and fries is P230, 12inch Pizza 285 to 330 most Pasta dishes were around p220 and the Tiramasu was P65, SM Pilson P65, and a glass of Red Wine P90 the most expensive Bottle of wine available was around P1250 of the year 2013, he sells homemade bread a small 200grm loaf is p25.

This is located just down from Blairs foods you have to enter the forecourt of Gas and Go, bear to the right and enter the dirt road at the back, it has parking for around 6 to 7 cars, overall I would give this the thumbs up.

First is that that the other guy is taller, younger and stronger than me. Im 40 years old already, i think he is around 25, not on my best shape, kind of fat, and never fought before, if we dont count those brother agaisnt brother chilhood sh*t at home...

Second is that im not alone on my complaints. There are 4 business owners with me complaining agaisnt the drivers and supporting me. One of them told me: "You did bad. You fought alone. You should wait for me to join you agaisnt him", so im not a crazy arrogant foreigner searching for problems. The police, the traffic officers, and the business owners support me, know all the story from the beggining and will talk on my favour in case of a court situation.

The Baragany Captain also agreed with me when she hear my side of this story so far. Of course she needs to hear the other side, but what im asking now, and what i was asking for 5 months...everybody could understand, and i had the law on my side. The arrogant, provoking and unrespectfull people are the drivers, and everybody there knows that. Tomorrow i will go to traffic office and ask for the reports on their visit there, maybe they can give me any official paper that give me more "base" to my side. If we go to court, i will easily find people supporting me.

You are right saying that is not a parking problem anymore. But you see, the mother f***** dont park there anymore.

I pay my taxes, i give work to Dumaguetenyo people, and i have a private parking area that should not be blocked. If i have to go to court and say loudy and clear that i will fight again if the police dont defend my rights, ill do. We are foreigners, but since we live here we have the same rights than any filipino citizen.[/QUOTE]
Imo you're absolutely right but also in the wrong. Many times I had to keep my fist deep in my pockets but a few times they flew out.
The people here always scream" I get you in court or I get you deported" Give it time to sink in and they realize that they have been wrong too and that it's not easy to go to court(I found out) and time consuming. All you say above is in your profit and I think that when you put some bluff in, this will blow over. Just mention during the barangay session that you have a grave doubt in the validity of his drivers license, road safety certificate, transport route license, insurance ect. ect. This will set him thinking. A few months ago in a police hearing brought forwards by a habal-habal driver against my wife I mentioned this. Resulted in him making his excuses and begging my wife for forgiveness. Case dismissed.

I think it is clear that no research into running a business in the Philippines has been made. The OP's naive, vague and/or cryptic responses when asked for more information about this business opportunity he wishes to recruit a partner for shows that this is either a scam or a very poor investment opportunity (insanely high risk/microscopic returns) for anyone to partake in.

Given that the OP has not given any meaningful information, despite being given several opportunities to do so, this thread has been locked. The OP is free to start another thread, however, any talk of business partners will need to have a proper business plan attached to the opening post or it will be removed from the forum. This is not a place to promote scams or ill-advised investments.

I was out today going after juvenile snook and tarpon on ultralights (a ton of fun). Got a bonus tilapia...by far the biggest tilapia I have personally caught.

Well we are back and I have to admit this is my first time to ever go to a Resort (and my first real holiday in 56 years!) so hard to compare to the experiences others have had, but I must admit it was very relaxing, quiet and exactly what I was looking for!

We stayed at the Mahogany Upland Resort, the Owners are friendly and approachable, the staff are friendly and very polite, the food was TOO MUCH! I mean it! It was a BATTLE to get through each meal I tried, and I tried a different meal each day, each meal time, and was BLOATED! My Wife and Daughter ended up buying one meal and splitting it between them and were still satisfied! They cater both Western and Filipino Foods so one could easily keep Asawa and the kids very happy if needed!

They have a (from memory I heard someone say) 400 square foot Pool that has a 2 foot deep wader section railed in with a covered roof so parents can sit by their young ones. outside that to the end it is 2 foot deep, to the right of the wader pool is a 4 foot deep section that goes to 12 feet deep at the end, I; being a Moby Dick waited until after tea time to go for a dip and the water was warm and I found that great as it took away the aches and pains I live with 24/7 due to my disabilities, and they are constantly cleaning the pool (which is only 3 week old I believe) so no floating ipis for the foreigners! hehe

The Resort also takes Walk-ins Daily! (I *think* 8:30am to 5:00pm?)
From memory; they charge 100 pesos for entry and 100 pesos redeemable for drinks at the Bar, so a 200PHP Entry Fee all up which should keep some riff-raff out by banning them bringing in drinks (namely alcoholic beverages!) Walk-ins are allowed to bring in food and rent a space under cover (which is still in progress) for 300 pesos.

The weekend was VERY BUSY with Walk-ins so if someone is wanting some quiet time in the Pool then I would advise you go during the week and skip the weekends.

In case of Black-out they have a Generator which services the Bar, Restaurant and Pool area.

*EDIT: For those with Pets, "PETS ALLOWED"!

We chose the Deluxe Room which is 80m2 and fully screened, it contained a LARGE COMFORTABLE Bed (King size I think?) and two smaller single beds, a Table and 4x chairs, a Sofa and Pay TV, a separate CR/Shower, the Air-con and ceiling fan also help take the sting out of the heat of the day (THANK YOU NORECO for the 11 hour black out on Sunday! :punch: Grr!!)

I would certainly go back again next Summer, but next time would choose days during the week to avoid the weekend rush.

I HOPE Mahogany Upland Resort will take the time to advertise on this Forum as I am sure MANY will no doubt read this thread...

    DOUBLE EDIT:
Just had the Owner's Nephew drop by and return 3200php which I had not noticed we were overcharged. HOW IS THAT for honesty and GREAT service!

@Wrye Up to you if you lock or keep this thread open now mate, maybe others still have something to contribute for others coming to this great country...

I would agree with most everything in your post except this part (at least for those of us coming from the US). It is not a better life here for a cheaper price. It is a lower standard of living for a lower cost of living. I find most everything here more expensive and more of a hassle than in the US. Utilities, rent, food, gasoline, dealing with the government, land prices, building supplies, colleges/universities....all more expensive than the US (if you look at the value of what you are getting). The only thing, that I have found, that is truly cheaper here is beer, smokes, women and labor. The main reason I am here is not because it's cheap (it's not), it's because the government isn't always watching over my shoulder to tell me what's safe and what's not and forcing me to buy insurance/products for my own good. I'm willing to lower my standard of living to sustain a life with less government intrusion for a longer period of time. There is a cost - b*llsh*t - freedom balance for me though.....and it seems that the longer I am here the more that balance gets out of whack. There are other countries that are starting to look more appealing than the Philippines.

I know some European countries (aka Liberal Land) are ridiculously expensive because of all the people sucking on the government tit but if an American is coming here to elevate their standard of living for less money they really haven't taken a close look at the actual numbers. Osodelnorte does have a point: many (certainly not all) of the new expats I am seeing/meeting out and around town are dysfunctional Western mental midgets that have some extremely questionable morals. (If this does not apply to whoever is reading this then I'm not talking about you, please don't take offense.....but if the shoe fits go ahead and lace that b*tch up and wear it.)
