    I would very much be interested to hear Trump's take on Duterte's comments to the ambassdor. I'm betting I would agree with whatever it was he had to say about it.
    The US does not need the Philippines. The advancement of long range bombers and nuclear powered ships have made the Philippines completely irrelevant. The shipping lanes can be protected from the bases we currently have in the Pacific and the bases China has built on the Spratley Islands have fixed addresses and pose absolutely no threat to the US (those can easily be dealt with from 1800 miles or more away from the islands). It is the Philippines that needs the US. Duterte can be as "macho" as he likes but that won't do anything to deter the Chinese from claiming every island in the archipelago that they please. Duterte speaks loudly and carries a tiny twig (the twig being the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard). Maybe he is stupid enough to think that sinking a Chinese battleship is as easy as sending his death squads out to kill impoverished 3rd world drug dealers though.

    If Duterte wins the election I really think the US should reconsider their defense treaty (along with all foreign aid) with the Philippines.

    Agree. Not sure what the trouble some people have is or the reason for getting so upset....it's not like a bad attitude is going to make your life with immigration any easier. The prices are posted online and all the requirements (pictures/photocopies) can be gotten at the travel agency just next door to the immigration office. I just did my extension today and it took me around 30 minutes and P2930 for the visa and 12.50 for all the photocopies needed (already had the pictures from the last time). It could have been done in 15 minutes but I had to go back to the travel agency a second round for more photocopies because my iCard finally came in and I didn't know I needed copies of my ARP "slip" that's stapled to the back of my passport (I went in with the picture, photocopies and the exact change I thought I needed. Those extra photocopies cost me an extra 15 minutes. Next time I'll be fully prepared when they call my number.)

    Here is the video of me riding up there. Maybe it was coincidence but the second I pulled out my cell phone to take pictures some lady came up there trying to sell me some land. She said there was a lot up the road a bit for 350/sqm. :rolleyes:

    This is an interesting thread. I have three adult children here in the USA. One has a master's degree and is a math professor at a college. He will have his doctorate in one year. One daughter has her bachelor's degree and teaches English to people who primarily speak another language. And I have a daughter that just cares about herself and what she can have people give her by playing on their sympathies. Funny thing is they are 28 year old triplets.

    It just goes to show even though they were raised identically, they all have their own identity . My wife and I have no plans on having our own children as we are both in our 50's but my wife's sister just had a baby. Once we get there full time in about 6 years we will treat her like our own daughter. I am excited to see how she turns out versus my kids here with all the challenges and difficulties she will face growing up there.

    With family in two countries, what happens to both after we die is a small concern. But we live with the knowledge we have done all we can to prepare them for life, and can only hope they will take advantage of what they have learned and been given, and succeed.

    So my daily routine (I have a wife and son). Mon-Sat mornings gym in Dauin, Tue-Thur drop my boy off at Don Bosco, Mon-Wed-Fri afternoon boy's soccer practice at school, Saturday afternoon boy's karate training at Bambulo. most mornings after the gym home and search internet (USA Today, ESPN, check fantasy football, watch BBC news on TV, sandwich for lunch, wife makes chicken or fish for dinner, drink some wine and watch Netflix. go to town once a week, mainly Belcris and Sofia's. Life is good.
