The Food on Leyte was not handed out due to political revenge. Just like the Gym in Valencia that was started by a previous Mayor but will never be finished as a spite to the old Mayor who started the building. The next Mayor used the money allotted to finish the Gym for his own pet project. The people suffer because of childish spiteful politicians

Considering your issue nothing you *talk* about or books and the sort will help considering the standard attitude of that type of Filipina. Having other female friends for her to talk to about the real issues would be great except they tend to never talk about their problems other then the complaints they have about you.
The only thing you can honestly do is walk away from her. Be ready to split while saying how much you still love her but can't take how she treats you or acts anymore (still keep open communication such as texts after and try even maybe trying to ask her to dinner a couple times). Ball is in her court and either she tries hard to get you back realizing her issues or else it doesn't happen.
It really sucks but the women here are so very stubborn to admit they have issues (well women in general) and refuse to admit after a year or a few years they change and often stop caring for their partner moving into more of a roommate with occasional benefits situation.-

- Thread: Why we leave
ChMacQueen DI Forum Patron Highly Rated Poster Showcase Reviewer Veteran Army
I think for most it comes to the same reasons while may flip around which is the top reasons depending on who.
For me, I'm a disabled veteran on disability compensation. My compensation every month was enough for decent food and a nice apartment in the states but that is about as far as it would stretch most months due to costs of living. If I wanted to go to the movies or out to eat I had to budget it carefully. Due to by status it was very hard finding a decent gal as while I got a check I wasn't moving upwards financially, didn't have a car, and pretty much seen as undesirable to western women unless I wanted an older woman with a couple of kids who was desperate.
So the top two reasons for me in the Philippines was financial freedom where I can do things within reason whenever I want without always having to look and worry on the bank account and then a woman that didn't have all the big materialistic and financial demands most western women do. Beyond that it was also wanting to see and experience something new and different.-

But I do agree that an exit plan is a good idea. Makes me wonder about buying a condo though. Just a dream at the moment but owning a condo (or anything you cannot pack in a suitcase) is not conducive to a quick exit.-

- Thread: Best things about Dumaguete
I think the best thing about Dumaguete is that it's not Manila, Cebu or any other metropolitan area. It's still just a provincial urban center. It's trying to become a metropolitan area but I think the way politics and economics work here it will take a long, long time before it gets there.

I know the man and the tree so do many other members that grow veggies, their is two sides to every story then their is the truth the sight is the mans house and his business . Way back when the Air Bus started landing here he had damage to the roof of his house and sheds from wind sheer, no money was forth coming for repairs so the trees were let grow to to give some protection from it happening again. (i think that is fair enough). maybe the stale mate came when some one was asked to sign on the line to except the costs of repairs to any further damage.

Unfortunately I believe the Philippines will have to learn the hard way - like most teenagers during their puberty years with "independence" and "stubborn" and "what do others know" attitudes.
Look at US Base issues - 1st we kick them out - now let us give them 8 bases (I know - logistic support only - yeah right).
Look at Army, Navy, Airforce, PNP, etc equipment. If somebody comes a knocking, we can not even throw rocks - only sticks.
Look at foreign investment issues - they restrict with both hands and legs tight together - then wonder why the foreign companies pull out.
Overseas Foreign Workers - as much as 10% of GDP is directly linked to the support given by OFW to family in Philippines. If they did not go overseas they would be an unemployment burden.
And they are an easy mark for corruption (customs, employment agency, etc). And then have the president state that they should have stayed in Philippines - they decided to go overseas ().
Anyways we'll see how the election will go. Hopefully there will be a government that is forward thinking and planning with some positive strategies.
My rant for the day.

When i was in Bayawan the dog catchers came around every week a guy on a bike to find and shoot the dog and 3 men in a truck to collect the body. Sounds cruel but every kid could ride a bike or people could walk there dog with out the worry of stray dogs being a problem . But why not here?
