We are a couple blocks from CityMall, thus close to you. We stream a fair amount, so sprung for the PLDT fibre into the modem. We get 100 mbps up and down, sometimes better, sometimes 70 or 80. Netflix movies load in 3 seconds, no buffering.. Goes down completely once every couple months, phone call usually gets it reset in an hour or so, phone wait rarely over 5 min. "..Cost effective..." is a subjective cost-benefit analysis depending on your own criteria.

I did not say they are a..holes. I respect religious freedom totally. I do not respect authoritarian, homophobic and ultraconservative communities not allowing their members a free mind. and I have no respect for missionairies that are running away at the first sign of a crisis. Jesus stayed and helped, as I heard. that's the benchmark - sorry, Mormons.

As written elsewhere, they're taking a huge cut out of the margins, pay very little to the drivers, and in the end food quality will suffer because restaurants have to save somewhere. It's oh so convenient and hard to resist but I really hate to see several of my favourite restaurants take part in this.

Not to mention the amount of trash for wrapping all that food for delivery.

So no, not a good thing, except for the food panda share holders.

I have bought and successfully registered 2 used cars in the last 5 years.
Make sure any vehicle you buy has an LTO printed "OR" (original receipt) not a zerox, in the sellers name, not the person they bought it from or 3 people ago. Check the OR for any mortgages, this will block the transfer until resolved, this should be resolved by the seller before any money changes hands. Make sure the number stamped on the vheicle frame and engine match the OR. Make sure the color matches the OR. Make sure the license plates match the registration Walk away from any vehicle where the paperwork is not 100%, this is a very common thing here to stick the buyer with nightmare paperwork that takes forever (if ever) to resolve.
Check for a current registration, this can be resolved by the seller and is not a deal breaker.
Before any cash changes hands take all the paperwork to the LTO main office and have them inspect the paperwork, ask them for a list of requirements to transfer ownership. Test drive the vehicle up to Valencia and check for overheating. If you don't know much about cars you should have it inspected by a mechanic. Agree on a price with the seller.
The next step is getting a Deed of Sale from an attorney, they charge for this, sometimes too much. Pay with a manager's check from your bank, don't pay with cash. Make sure you have copies of 2 of your IDs and 2 IDs of the seller, make a lot of copies.
To transfer the with the LTO, you will need smog test, get 10 stencils of the frame and engine numbers, this will save time later. You will need to go to the Dumaguete Police crime lab for inspection which you pay P40 at Landbank and inspection at PNP highway patrol. You need insurance. If you want full coverage insurance go to Commonwealth near the port. The LTO will process the rest of the transfer. It could take several visits or several days to get it all done. I take small bites at it and not try to do it all in one or two days. I do not trust fixers or smog shops to do this, they will mess it up and getting it straightened out is a lot more work than doing it yourself the first time.

It is sad, but my daughter was shamed in front of her entire 6th grade class about her weight, by her teacher (at SHS)!! She said to her "you need to reduce" in front of her classmates (my daughter is Fil/Am and her body shape was much different, and more developed, than her filipina classmates were . My daughter was extremely hurt by this from a teacher who should have been there to protect her from such comments. Needless to say, we had a big meeting with her teacher and the principal which resulted in the teacher crying and apologizing, and we also insisted she make a public apology in front of the class, which she did. I am glad that, perhaps, there might be something put into place to protect those who are belittled or taunted based on their looks or appearances.

I agree. Americans should give equal rights to Filipinos. And Filipinos should give equal rights to Americans. This includes green cards, the right to work, real estate ownership, SSI, Medicaid and in three years citizenship. Hell yes. Equal rights for all.

I think because if offence is taken at comments pertaining to political actions, which any country would consider its own business, they may seek some form of retribution against those who make the comments or the whole community (ex-pats in this case). It is a case of putting the head above the parapets, just to get it shot off for no reason. We can all moan about 'out of stock' sir and other relatively-minor service matters as those affect us directly and no one really cares - but get involved in police and/or political matters in a foreign country and you take a risk. As I said before, it will change nothing. Keep a low profile - keep safe.
