I think because if offence is taken at comments pertaining to political actions, which any country would consider its own business, they may seek some form of retribution against those who make the comments or the whole community (ex-pats in this case). It is a case of putting the head above the parapets, just to get it shot off for no reason. We can all moan about 'out of stock' sir and other relatively-minor service matters as those affect us directly and no one really cares - but get involved in police and/or political matters in a foreign country and you take a risk. As I said before, it will change nothing. Keep a low profile - keep safe.

 

All the choice we make in life have consequences, some of them are out of our hands, the world is not and will never be fair. Health care is one of the biggest issues when you live in the Philippines IMHO. Every single person makes its own choice, I have 2 times had an accident on a bike, broken shoulder and broken hips and other injuries. Hospitals here are like Monthy python show, sir we need to inform you that we not sure you wake up again after operation lol. Me, how big is the risk? The doctor says just relax only like 50% lol. My choice to live here, of course, I want go to Cebu or Manila and have the operation, but with broken hips and heavy pain, not easy to find out how to go there. My choice to live here, need to accept the circumstances in the 3. world or stay home

 

Same problem here....the wife says they keep the dogs as an alarm system for people trying to steal their "game birds". I asked why does the "alarm" have to go off all the time when no one is trying to steal their obnoxious "game birds"? The treatment/living conditions of most dogs by locals is borderline criminal.

 

A funny not funny question.
Would the 76 hours be from admission to discharge or from admission to settling your account. The reason I ask is one time my wife was discharged at 10:00 am and it took accounting until 5:00 pm to get the bill sorted out. They wanted her to stay one more night while they "worked" on the bill and she said okay but I'm not paying for the extra night. The sorted the bill pretty quick after that.

 

Maybe they need to designate an island as a prison and interdict it. Guard it with Cessnas armed with machineguns and radar buoys. Maybe if Jolo were a little more distant from other islands, it would make a good prison, killing two birds with one stone.
