For those of us wary about having anything put into our body (e.g. a vaccine) without a high degree of certainty of the downsides (which could take years to show), I feel we may be pressurised by countries issuing some form of Vaccination Certificate (referred to by some as 'passports') and using it like the quarantine passes in allowing entry to shops, restaurants, bars etc only by showing the VC plus ID. Even possibly barring entry to some countries without having a VC - that would include re-entry for Visa runs.

I can see a whole pile of things possibly coming along, including higher taxes, some capital controls, near 100% cashless transactions and perhaps vaccination being necessary, even if not forced in the physical sense.

What's your obsession with a decomposing meat sack? It certainly doesn't care anyone is taking a picture of it.

Obviously there are different cultural expectations on how the deceased are handled and respected. Differences in cultures aren't flaws. Expecting others to bow to and live up to your cultural expectations while you live in their country on the other hand....I know where I would tell you to shove that attitude.

Uy matiao has remotely controlled garage doors. Their office is on the street between their retail store and the boulevard.
It's a roll up/down steel door double car.
They did a good job installing the door.

We used Wedo Trucking to move our furniture from Bantayan to Talay. A quality service... arrived bang on time... not the cheapest around but very reliable.. we recommend them.

No mistake, I think it is a great thread, examining the pros and cons of bringing aging parents to retire in the Philippines. I have asked my mother to come here and I would help her in her octagenarian years but she doesn't like the Philippines as a place to live.

I think it could be done with a decent standard of living at a better cost than other parts of the world. It's not for everyone though. One big concern would be protection. Octagenarian, foreign retirees would be seen as a juicy target for criminals.

I have just seen it didn't. No, I mean literally just "seen". As I walked by and had a look. There was a building that burned to the ground and there was a huge concrete firewall on either side of it, so the buildings beside it escaped serious damage. The building that houses the BI is on the "good" side of the firewall. No damage.

Today's effort was the last before the new year. I took advantage of the workers' absence to bring in a compressor and spray gun and have a go at painting the railings and steel sheet with black enamel as planned. Bloody hot work today but very happy with the result - far better than the original idea of removing them and replacing them with hollow block. Looks far better and saved a few bob in the process! Happy New Year to all!!!!! 2017-12-31 16.48.48.jpg 2017-12-31 16.49.12.jpg

Have you talked to him and explained the prob?..... most people, aussies or others will listen and try to work out a solution...If its the same situation after talking drastic measures (like harm to the dogs) would be considered by me.....
I had same situation here with a local, went and seen them and problem solved....just sayin.........

I'm at a loss on this one as to why it happens. I do agree with wrye that the motive is almost always a scam. The post I read the other day really set me back at how fast the insults and vitriol started when no one agreed to use their precious resources to fund a ideal that they did not share. I find the logic that a person can bully and insult their way into the pockets of experienced adults like our selves to be absurd and childish.

This is a lesson in risk also. I didn't think about it (walking through dead areas at night) because I have never had problems. Locals warn me all the time, but again, never had problems. But when you do have a problem, the risk can be huge. It's like driving a motorcycle (which is why I don't drive.) You rarely get into a wreck. But when you do get into a wreck, it could kill you. Aside from death, the risk of physical injury (and financial distress) is sky high. Smoking has a similar risk profile (not everyone gets cancer, but the cancer can kill you.) Small lifestyle changes can remove big risks.
