My wife and my health are important to me/us. We can't afford medical insurance so we look after our self's best we can with strict low carb diets.
If I get a life threatening cancer which runs in my family. I'm screwed. See you on the flip side.

This is a question I have asked of Filipino's living in UK.
At the age of 58 and my youngest daughter had decided to leave home, I found myself in an empty house full of old memories.
As a widower of over ten years and never having found a lady I would choose to live with in UK, I met my Filipina wife via a Christian Friends Friendship site.
When I told my three Children of my intention to move to Philippines, they were shocked, as it turned out my health suffered due to the climate and I decided that apart from visiting, the Philippines was not the best option.
Eventually my wife was able to join me in UK and is happy here, however many younger Filipino's who living in the UK who have children born here, they face that same dilemma, of leaving their children/ grandchildren behind to retire to Philippines, they now realise that is a hard decision to have to make.
Having said that, I have never relied on my children in anyway, I have let them lead their own lives, so I feel they should let me do the same.
Living on the other side of the world would I of missed them? yes, do I see them as often as I would like? no! but that's their choice.-

Our daughter is only emotionally mine, she just started college. I've been in her life since she was 10, and she has shown a remarkable talent for adjusting to the hugely different circumstances before me and since me.
Maybe I got lucky, but I can't say raising a teenager here was much different from doing so in Europe earlier in the 90's.
The biggest issue I had in the past 7 1/2 years was to come to terms with the way schools here (don't) work.
Behaviour wise, yeah sure, social media is a big thing for the kids, but not more so here than elsewhere I think.
Luckily the girl's pretty smart, so not much correction needed at all.-

Just keep sowing good seeds, no need to look back. Some will land on good ground and multiply (people will pay kindness forward). The others, well, they will become food for the birds and critters
From a smile, encouraging word, or just listening, many times an act of kindness doesnt cost money. Those are the actions remembered. We can all be an example of living kindly and humbly, regardless of socioeconomic status.-

- Thread: RETIREMENT
I did not plan on retiring but as my job involved a fair bit of travel the dreaded covid meant i had to for a couple of years and by the time travelling got easier i had lost the will to go back to it, the only thing i miss is the money.

Most of the price rises we are seeing for food and commodities is just opportunism. Much of it has no relation to the cost of raw materials, transport, labor etc.

- Thread: Onions
Best AnswerI would think this would give an incentive to consider growing your own? Onions are easy grown and I see no reason for them not to do well there in PH, they are not troubled by many pests and there is perhaps just one problem to grow them there and that is Neck Rot a fungus caused in wet weather, especially when grown direct in the ground, something worth trying there is to grow them in elevated containers, when at home in UK I use a couple of 9inch pots in these I plant any type of onion seed to pick them young for use in Salads, when the first two pots are well sprouted, I start another two and occasionally repeat this again for a third time, with the first one started in the house in early Feb then transferred into my Greenhouse, I am using these from the start of April right up till end of Nov, I see no reason not to try this on a larger scale to produce a good sized bulb for cooking with. To do this on a larger scale knock up a box 2ft sq around 1ft in depth using Coco lumber set it at waist height (under cover so you can control the watering) be generous with the sowing of your seed and pick the early sprouts for use in salads, this way you are thinning them out to allow the growth of larger bulbs, the same can be done with carrots in a similar box with around an extra 6inch in depth, again sow them quite thick to pick the early ones to eat raw, they will be very sweet when young, for carrots I would grow under a fine Mosquito net to stop carrot Fly getting to them, the best time of the year to start this in PH would be the end of Dec till late Jan, likely this can be done at any time of the year there, but these will be the best times for planting.-

Every November of each year I was Soldier, our Regiment had a 10 day practice up to the Remembrance Day Honor Parade! Always was proud, of what we all (and so many others) put into it. Freedom is nothing to take for granted. Salutes out to all the fallen and those that serve!

Ferry's for the most part, rental Vans and in Cagayan De Oro......car rental.
Must carry ID and a vax card BTW. Took 8 Ferry's that ranged from 800P to 1200P
Spent about 30,000 Peso and made many friends along the way. Took 3600 pictures and 120 videos on my Sony AX-53. What an adventure!-
