Curious if this member would be willing to take regular drug tests/breathalyzers (alcohol is a drug) and an STD checks upon the request of a female (since there is a very high chance that anyone over 50 already has an STD. HPV or one of the Herpes simplex viruses.....especially if you are over 50 years of age)? Maybe she could request other medical tests to make sure the user here is physically fit and won't be falling over from a heart attack soon? Perhaps an IQ test to make sure that she doesn't pop out any retarded babies in case she gets knocked up?
I'd tell anyone who asked me those questions (or the questions in the OP) that there is probably a very good reason why they are single and that they could go **** themselves. The term "beggars can't be choosers" comes to mind.-

Jackass goes into horrible, high risk business which he probably knows nothing about.
Business lends money, jackass is SHOCKED that people won't repay their loans.
Jackass is SHOCKED that the legal system in the Philippines is corrupt and slow.
There is no oppression here, this guy was just stupid.
We can b*tch about things all day long and point out problems. At the end of the day, you have to watch your own @ss. If you are stupid enough to get screwed over in the Philippines then you will get screwed over anywhere. The U.S. business environment is better in some ways and more difficult in others. I have seen foreign business owners do things in the Philippines which would put them in jail in the U.S.
On another note, the requirement of Filipino's being part owner of your business is a deal breaker. You are forced to choose a business structure which allows this part ownership (corporation) even though this may not be the best structure for your business. Often foreigners pick wives, house maids or other people they don't even know to be part owners. While this may work in some cases, it's ridiculous to give away part ownership to someone who hasn't earned or paid for it. This includes your wife.
As Warren Buffet says, don't try to be smart. Just don't be stupid.-

The collapse of the Afghan military shouldn't have came as a surprise to anyone that spent time training and working with the Afghan military. In the 10 years I worked with the Afghan military and government I recall running across one single squad of afghan soldiers that look like and carried themselves like professional well trained soldiers. The rest were a complete joke (not bad people, just a complete lack of discipline, integrity, punctuality, education and training). From 2009 to 2019 there was zero improvement.
Who I feel truly sorry and concerned for are many of the translators I worked with over the years. I really hope they were able to get out. They were good people and put everything on the line to help the US. F*ck the Afghan military and government, they had every opportunity to become legitimate. The abandonment of these translators and workers is what disgusts me.-

Yes, I am fully retired but still like to work at hobbies. More fun than work really.

Maybe if the government would actually take care of the stray dog problem or the local population would be responsible dog owners this type of thing wouldn't even need to happen.-

I can find no fault in what the article is saying. Many times I hear foreigners say that they drive like, park like or act like the locals but I do not think it right to act like locals who are doing wrong things.
If we, foreigners, want to use the local people as our examples and do as they do then we should pick the best examples of moral, upstanding, Philippine citizens in Dumaguete and try to emulate them. Not try to follow the example of idiots and be idiots just like them.
The low lifes will ruin it for those of us who enjoy being treated well here.-

I am fortunate to have a great family and extended family. So helpful in so many ways. They are the reason these have been the best 13 years of my life. Maybe I am of the minority here. I have found by giving, you get more back. Are they perfect? Am I?
