Something to look out for. Almost every picture I get sent from the Philippines has some level of filter added to the image...and this is from girls I actually know what they look like.

For some reason the ferries have been packed tight and leaving early the last few days.
My friend went to visit Siquijor for the weekend and wanted to head back to Dumaguete on the last boat of the day. Arriving at the ticket window 20 minutes before the sailing they would not sell him a ticket because they were already full.
This morning a different friend wanted to go on the Maayo (8 am schedule) barge Sibulan to Liloan. He arrived at 7:45 (I was there to say goodbye so I know the time was right) and the Maayo barge was 5 minutes out in the channel already. It must have filled up and left early.
So I suggested he take the Fast Craft. But by the time we got to the ticket window at 7:47 the Fast Craft was just pulling out. I guess they were full too. When I asked at the ticket window if they were putting on any extra sailings due to being so busy, the lady said: "No, take pump boat at 8:30"
I remember another friend, may he R.I.P. who ALWAYS showed up at the Maayo barge at the very last minute and expected to get on with his motorcycle. I would tell him he should get here early in case they are full one day and his reply was "Its only a motorcycle, they can always make room for a motorcycle." I wish he was still with us so I could say "I toldja so!"-

- Thread: Roti Boss, Indian food

Roti Boss is a fan only hole-in-the-wall stall serving good Muslim Indian food from a limited menu. We tried it for lunch. Good Naan and Roti breads with spicy dips and your normal curry dishes. Cheap prices. The location sucks however and you get a good dose of "Eau de Dumaguete" while eating from the sewer grates out front. Recommended as it's the only Indian made food in town. Caddycorner from the South east corner of city plaza park near the watchtower. Or 1 block south from the post office on same side. If only he would open a bigger place downtown and a cart in Valencia!

- Thread: VALENCIA
Well we have made the move from Mactan to Valencia and we are so pleased to have made this change, I have yet to find out where things are situated here but enjoying the adventure.
We shopped in Hypermarket yesterday and I was surprised that some of the items we get on a regular basis are more expensive here, one example is; Hereford C/beef P155 in Mactan and 269 here perhaps a mistake? also 1ltr Tanduay Rum P97 but P110 here,
Tricycles are more expensive here also I believe, in Mactan they cannot get away with overcharging as you can compare their fares to Taxi fares over the same journey, Hypermart to Valencia P150 seems expensive to me?
Anyway having said all of the above I'd rather be here than in Mactan, one really good thing I have observed here and had never thought about before, it was heavy rain on the Tuesday night when we arrived here but next morning there was no sign that it rained the night before, in Mactan we would have been wading through puddles for days after, so living on a hill in the Philippines is a definite advantage as long as you are not in an area that is susceptible to landslides.
Hope to meet some of you soon,
Dave-

Demolition of illegal structures at Boracay resort starts
the Duterte government is starting to implement the existing law and tears down all illegal buildings / structures in the beach areas at Boracay, Panglao in Bohol and also at Palawan - when do they start here in this area? specially in Bacong, so many seawalls that make it impossible to have a nice beach walk, so many illegal houses in the environmental protection zone directly at the beach - not to mention waste water management... it is simply annoying when the foreign expat tries to fulfill all the laws in respect to the guest country and so many people do what they want without any consequences. any opinions? is this a lawless island?-

Cebu - Founder and CEO of "Home for Girls - Sunny Life e.V." was arrested on Tuesday, January 16, in Frankfurt, Germany, for child sexual abuse. - klajoo.com - The 52-year-old father of a child lived for several years as the "Sunny Delgado" in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Province, before moving to Cebu in 2017 to found an organization to help street children in the Philippines. At the end of the year, Sunny returned to his hometown of Frankfurt am Main to do business. In February, Sunny, who wanted to be photographed with little Filipino girls, wanted to return to the Philippines. According to the Attorney General Frankfurt, Sunny has made an appointment to pay for the serious sexual abuse of children in the Philippines, through a messenger service. According to the prosecutor's office, the man had it, aimed at nine to twelve-year-old girls. The decisive clue was provided by the FBI, the US authority had encountered in their investigations on the Germans and had passed their information to the Federal Criminal Police Office in Wiesbaden. While searching his home, his computers and numerous data carriers were secured. The prosecutor says he e-mailed more than 1,900 child pornography and video files depicting the most serious forms of child sexual abuse. The website of Sunny was taken off the web, while in Facebook the group "Home for Girls - Sunny Life e.V.", at the time of publication of this article was still online.
